Does anyone know if taking an herb like Kratom can then cause a medication to stop working? I just switched back to Nucynta today after taking nothing but Kratom for a while and the max of tramadol for a few weeks. I hit my kratom tolerance ceiling at about 12-15 grams. It has been a while since my first dose of nucynta and the pain is still hell! :(

Second dose and nothing. :(
I am going to lay in bed in the dark and moan and cry. This is my new life.

Hello, Guitarguy: Since kratom and narcotics -- such as Nucynta -- cancel each other out, my guess is you still have enough kratom in your blood to keep Nucynta from working completely. Have you tried switching kratom strains to maintain a good pain response from the kratom? That might be preferable to letting the kratom work its way completely out of your system (leaving you w/o much pain relief) until the Nucynta can once again relieve your pain as it used to.

It would probably be unwise to double your dose of Nucynta in hopes of getting the pain relief you're seeking. I'm not a doctor, so I can't give advice, but I would resist the temptation to take more than the recommended dose of Nucynta (or any narcotic)if I were in your situation. I know that kratom is safer.
Hope this helps.
;)

Whenever you take any narcotic with Kratom they will Compete with each other & most likely cancel each other out. So I would take Kratom one day then the next day take Nucynta. I know about 6 years ago when the last time I took 15mg Hydro with Kratom the Hydro didn't have any effect on me at all.

The best Kratom Strains for Pain are as Follows In Order From Strongest To Weakest:

Bentuangie

Red Maeng Da

Horned Leaf Maeng Da

Red Riau

Red Sumatra

White Maeng Da

Red Borneo

Red Indo

Green Bali

But remember everybody has different brain chemistry so you might have to try a sample of all the Kratom Strains to find which one works best for you.

I've heard that Tapentadol or Nucynta is a powerful opioid analgesic. It's almost like Oxy. I would seriously think about getting off this Pain Medicine if the withdrawals are not too bad. I know Tramadol has Bad Withdrawals. But if you have Serious Pain then you will need this from time to time. I knew a person who had Herniated Disks in his back & took every Pain Medication under the sun. Then finally he got Surgery & now he only takes 4 Ibuprofen Liquid Gels once in a while.

I would say you could switch up your Kratom Strains. Take one Kratom Strain for a couple of days then switch to another Strain to give your body a break from the Strain so you won't build up too much of a Tolerance to each Strain. You can also take Stem & Vein for 3 days & that will bring down your Tolerance a lot.

You can also take things that will Potentiate the effects of Kratom. you can take Magnesium, Vitamin C, Tagamet, Chamomile Tea, Loperamide Turmeric, Cayenne Pepper, Watercress Lettuce, Valerian, Cat's Claw & White Grapefruit Juice Just Take it 30 Minutes before a dose to make Kratom last longer.

I have often read that kratom taken with nucynta or other opiate meds compliment each other. I was taking Nucynta and kratom successfully at one time.

I did try changing strains.

I have read that some kratom users take 15g kratom.

Kratom potentiators only causes me nausea.
I know no people with CRPS/RSD who can get through life without any meds. I tried switching strains and nothing. The pain is bad enough that I can hardly walk or work. I don't have time to keep experimenting while my life crumbles.
