Hi All,
I'm new to the forum:) Thank you for hosting this wonderful site!
A question: I've been using Kratom for arthritis pain for about two weeks now (with great results). I take about 2 grams in the morning and I find that my pain starts to return about 6 hours later. I have only been taking one dose per day (I'd really like to keep my dosage low as I expect I will need to take Kratom for the rest of my life to manage pain). My question is, would it be more effective for pain management to take smaller doses throughout the day (1/2 gram at a time?), or one larger dose in the morning. Also, if it's relevant, I do rotate my strains daily but have not been able to skip a day as I need it for pain.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience!

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, bellacat!

My opinion only: try it both ways on different days

My results with figuring that out are mixed.

Overall, more at one time is the better option. For me.

But sometimes I need to start with 1/2-1 gram and then take 2 grams a couple of hours later.

And, all of this is subjective depending on your eating cycles and such.

Congratulations on making such progress! What a game changer, right?

Oh yeah. Total dosage being 2 grams.

I would do all at once if I am feeling well enough (sometimes that is TOO MUCH first thing in the morning).

Not much wiggle room in there. Taking just a minute amount under 2 grams will still not permit a helpful sized dose later.

Definitely consider your schedule and when your physical activities will be more challenging and focus on getting maximum benefits during that time.

Hope that helps.

(Sometimes I put a dose in a water bottle and mix in Chia seeds and sip a nasty looking health drink all morning until 1ish.)

I take two grams in the morning. On rare occasions I take a little more. But I usually do not take it again until the next morning. I find that once I get up and over the morning pain hump, I don't need any more for the day. Also, I am being cautious about my dosage.

I've been on a regular Kratom schedule for about 6 months now. I do try other strains but I always go back to my dark red Meng da. I may order some stem and vein and also considering skipping occasional days, but I haven't wanted to try that yet. It seems like everyone does it a bit differently.

Thank you for the feedback. Do you find that taking Red Maeng Da in the morning is too sedating, or not? I've wanted to try the red strains as I hear they are the strongest for pain relief, but I also hear they can put you to sleep and that would not work with my busy work schedule.

Hello Bellacat,

Welcome to our awesome community!!! Nice o have you here

Kratom is very effective for my arthritic pain as well... Laurie gave you great advice and the only thing I’d add to it is that keeping low dosage.... if your only utilizing once a day .... great!!, but if you find that you need a second one you should do so before 6ish or 7 .... as depending on the kind of leaf your taking if you take some to deep into the second half of the day you might have hard time falling asleep.. unless it’s a sedating nighttime strain.

As far as red MD, most of them have given plenty of energy for me, almost like a green .... but we are all different and experimenting will give you the answer !! (L)

keep doing what your doing,, good job and if midday roles by and your pain is an issue .... Kratom is a great herb to help with that ...!!...!!...

Less is more with Kratom , bigger amounts does not equate to better benefits.... so keep it low and benefit big :)

Please let us know which strains you’ve found most helpful and how this relieving herb is working out for you B-)

Take care

Great tips; thank you! Kratom has been a life saver for me and I am so grateful to have found it! Before Kratom, it was difficult to walk with my crippling arthritis pain in my feet, and I'm an otherwise active, fit, healthy 48 year old. Kratom has given me my life back.
I think I may try taking a small dose of Red Bali in the evening when the pain returns after my morning dose. Maybe I'll try reducing my morning dose to 1 gram (instead of 2) and then taking another gram of Red Bali in the evening? Is Red Bali the best for evening pain (for sedation)? What about Red Maeng Da-- stimulating or sedating? Other ideas on red strains?
Thank you again!

Red md has been mostly stimulating for me , bentuangie is a fermented leaf that I think tend to be predominantly a red type of leaf .. that’s been fermented and the qualities are very relaxing - sedating... some bentuangie also gives decent pain relief ... this strain is best suited for the evening , not a daytime leaf ... for me anyways

Red generally don’t do much for me , but there are many people that love them ... occasionally I come across one that’s great for my chemistry, more of a faster , energetic red ....

Getting samples and seeing what works best for you and then ordering a bigger amount I think is a good approach ,

I’m mostly a green guy, I experience the benefits of energy, calming and pain relief with good moodlift... from greens most of the time ...

Another thing is mixing strains... but you can experiment at any point with that, finding a solid kind that works well for you is the name of the game , mix and match and blending when your up to it (L)

2 years of daily Kratom use and I’m still just as amazed at the help it provides me as when I started ... keep your doses as small as you can to get the benefits and spread them out mindfully , will help you to keep getting consistent benefits

Stoked you are getting such great relief , this herbal tool is like no other :)

Red Bali is what a lot of folks like for pain relief and is generally a relaxing / sedating strain

Red Borneo is one of my favorite reds from Nature Cure, has great pain relief and very good energy ...

Red md had mostly been energetic with pain relief for me

what works great for one , doesnt always work great for others ... and what didn’t work a few months ago, might work great the next time you try it ... Kratom is a trip like that .. so hold onto the ones that don’t sing to beautifully to you at the moment , might sing lovely later

I take Kratom to manage spinal arthritis.
I take a Green Strain for the workday. If I redose I have been lucky and able to do a 1/2 dose. But this only works if you are able to dose before the pain gets too bad. So if I start to feel achy I will not wait to take the lower dose.
I only take Reds at night. Not all Reds are sedating. I have few that I could take during the day.
but what works for me might not be the same for you. These Reds are Red Maeng Da and Red Hulu.

Best
