If I say I like classic rock from the 50's and 60's, feel the Cars are underappreciated, will never change the station on a reggae song. mostly listen to alternative rock- stay up to date on Garbage and Queens of the Stone Age. How old am I? What would be the tell?

LaoWhoo mentioned listening to Massive Attack and trip hop. I am guessing early forties, 42? (the tell music popular in the mid nineties, we develop music tastes in the teens and early twenties) Also I am aware he has one ex wife and I am guesing a young adult son.

Barnaclebill's favorite band is ZZ Top. Late 50's? 58.

New game show?

I'm 58. And I just saw Shirley Manson on some show the other day (YouTube--I don't watch TV.) I'm gonna say you're 45. As for me, I'm all over the place musically, ever since my buddy dragged me out of seminary and into a punk bar in Chicago where we slammed in a mosh pit. The sounds I heard were like finding another planet and woke up things I didn't know were in me. But a lot of it was in a lotta the music that was shaping me in the 60s as a child. How great did I have it? Walking home from the bus and hearing a new Dylan or Hendrix song coming out of a passing car.

It can come from anywhere, even the credits at the end of a movie. My most recent infatuation was with a young 20-sumthing who started on YouTube's Band Camp platform where he built quite a following. He had a coupla commercial songs wh/ I had, but I didn't know Matador Records had signed him and re-packaged his best early stuff into 2 albums. I ended up buying 50 of his songs.

Might also be where I'm at, but if I'm in a music mood I'm always finding sumthin. Also only listen to college radio stations. BTW, our 18-year-old daughter is always shocking us with her knowledge of 60s music. Ya never know.

I have an adoration for classical piano music (some of my favorites are Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, and Beethoven)
I love and produce dance/electronic and Hip Hop music.
I also enjoy rapping myself and listen to mainly conscious hip hop artists.
I am a fan of the 90's/late 00's rock (Korn, old school Papa Roach, Sublime, Alien Ant Farm, much more)
I love smooth jazz and have played the trumpet for years.
Big fan of downtempo and chill music such as Massive Attack
I'M IN LOVE with oldies music (Temptations, The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, ABBA, Barry White, Atlantic Star, and too many more to name)

I doubt you'd be able to guess my age from all of this information (but it's possible)

Nan- i say you're 70 based on the numbers in your name :P

I am actually an 80's child that loved sixties rock when I was just a babe. I was 10 when John Lennon died.

I now find that its hard to guess age by musical taste.

I am going to guess I could throw in Rage Against the Machine in there for you and say you are between 36-43?

Korn but no My Chemical Romance? lol sometimes my children have influenced my musical taste through the years, I became a fan of Jazz when I had to sit through many jazz band competitions, both played saxophones.

Yeah, the NAN70 username unfairly ages you, Nancy not Nanny. The 70 on the end makes your posts seem VERY HIP for a 70 yr old who posts about kratom “like its 1999!”

Haha!

Hey Nan70. What are those “cylinders” for swallowing called? I tried that word in searches and got nada. Thanks!

Do you mean Oblate Discs? They are edible films for swallowing bitter powders.
You are not asking for a medical device that helps people who have trouble swallowing., that would be out of my range of random knowledge. :-?

yes I like RATM and DAMN! how could I forget MCR? I had a serious phase with them when I was going through depression, but I still love their music.

I’m an odd case though and am a general music fanatic. I’m just below 30 years old :). I remember the good ol jazz band days.
