Hey everyone, so I'm having trouble staying asleep these days. I'm very much loving becoming more and more familiar with kratom. I just can't find the right combo to help me sleep. The greens work wonders for me during the day for energy and mood. The whites provide similar effects, just not as potent. The reds though, the few different strains I've tried from multiple vendors just give me the jitters. Sort of like a nervous energy almost.
While I'm so much better than a few months ago, I still have a few lingering PAWS primarily at night. Usually RLS related. I am taking gabapentin for that as well as some other supplements and feel great during the day. Just night time that's killing me. And while the kratom helps with the lack of sleep, it's not helping me get any.
I actually just got some samples in from SoCal and one is a yellow borneo. Will have to try it and see how it does. But, in the meantime, if you guys can share any tips I would greatly appreciate it! Hope you're all doing well.

Sorry you're having sleep troubles! I know finding the right strain of kratom can be difficult with such variety. When I have trouble sleeping and a nice big cup of kratom tea doesn't get the job done, I listen to a binaural tone. I'll give you a brief description because as an audio engineer I find it extremely fascinating and helpful.

Basically, through the wonders of what's called psychoacoustics, we can actually initiate certain brainwaves through aural stimuli. Our ears are capable of hearing down to about 20Hz frequencies. However we can trick our brains into hearing even lower frequencies. If you play a 100Hz tone in one ear and a 110Hz tone in the other ear simultaneously, you're brain will actually start to hallucinate a 10Hz tone!

Back in the 50s researchers began to discover that when the brain preforms this trick and hallucinates a subsonic tone, your brainwaves will want to resonate sympathetically with it.

Delta brainwaves are around 2-4Hz and are associated with deep REM sleep. By listening to a binaural tone and letting yourself relax to it, you can induce delta wave REM sleep in about 15min.

Sorry if that was long winded, but it has been an extremely helpful tool in my life. Just make sure you listen on stereo headphones or it won't work. There are some relaxing forms of music called "binaural beats" that incorporate this, but i've always had more luck with just the pure tone. Remember that volume doesn't matter, you can and should play it back as quiet as possible. Below is a link to a delta wave binaural tone. Hope it helps!

Very Interesting Abraxas. Hey msolis, Usually Stem & Vein mixed with another Sedating Strain is very good for getting Sleep. I used to mix S&V with Red Borneo & It would knock me out. Mix it about 50/50 equally. You will just have to experiment with different Strains, Combos & dosages to find the right one that works best for you. There are other herbs that can help with sleep. I know Valerian Tincture is supposed to be very good for putting you to sleep. There are others like Passion Flower, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Kava, Blue Lotus etc. You can also take half of a Dramamine for sleep if you wide awake & can't seem to shut down at night. Don't take too much or it will make you Depressed when you wake up. Usually a half to one pill is enough or most people for sleep.

Hey Msolis,

If you don't sleep on your back I would highly suggest trying that! I used to have sleep issues myself because I would try to sleep on my stomach or sides. It took me quite a while to get used to, but I swear by that being the secret to a good night sleep that most people are missing out on.

That's very cool, Abraxas. Would love to research that further.

For me, lots of back-breaking physical work makes for good sleep. A good dose of red powder helps, but not everybody reacts the same to reds & greens, like msolis said.

Chamomile & valerian can help with sleep, but if you're very keyed up/tense, they won't do much.

Interesting idea for a topic.

Thank you for all the great ideas everyone! I actually have always been a back sleeper, except when I'm rolling around trying to get to sleep. It is the best way for me to get quality sleep though. I'm going to give these things a try and will post back on progress. At least the weekend is finally here! Hope you all have a great one

Like aimee stated, a good dosage of a red vein powder helps. Usually 4-8 grams does the trick and it totally eliminates any RLS. What samples did you get from SoCal?

How are your magnesium, potassium and calcium levels?. Taking supplements of these really helps my RLS.

Interesting on the cannabis. I had to quit because with the Kratom it makes me sick. And it got to a point where I was tired of being stoned all the time. And my sleep has really suffered as well. HHHMMMM.....

I have never tried Cannabis & don't want to. Kratom is what I live on. They are making Cannabis Legal is some States & Kratom Illegal in other States HUH Go Figure! :huh:
