I've been on Prozac for the Past 12 + Years. I can't seem to see any Difference when I take it & when I miss a few days. Does anybody know if it would hard to Wean Totally off of Prozac. Would I have Bad Withdrawals? Should I just stay on it because I have been on it for so long?

It probably has changed my Brain Chemistry since I have been on it for so long. I have thought about taking something like Kanna but can't because I am taking Prozac which is an SSRI which would Interact with Kanna if I took it. I am not thinking of getting off Prozac right now. This is just a thought in the back of my mind.
If anybody has any Questions about Kratom please private message me or make a Post & I will be glad to answer as soon as I can usually within 24 hours if not sooner. I'm usually on really late at night Between Midnight & 5am.

This is something you need to discuss with a doctor. Not the kratom part but on reducing your Prozac. I know others here have gotten off of their anti-depressants. I am weaning off of Zoloft with the help of Kratom. I am not mentioning using Kratom to the doctor though. I cut back my zoloft by 50 mg a month ago. After a couple of weeks I started feeling deeply depressed in the morning before taking Kratom. Now I don't feel that anymore so I think that was part of adjusting to the lower dose. I am not going to cut back again for a bit and I will stay at my current dose for another month.

My next step is to cut back another 25 mg and see how it goes.

When it comes to these meds it is important to understand that you probably won't feel any difference for at least a couple weeks to a month after cutting back. It takes a few weeks for these meds to work when you start so it also takes a few weeks to feel the impact of a change in dose.

I have questioned my zoloft for quite a while. But I didn't want to take the risk of switching to another anti-depressant. I tried a couple others in the past and they made my anxiety worse, so I haven't wanted to risk it.

Now that I have found Kratom I have hope that I can dump the Zoloft for good. I think doctors find it easier to just keep giving you the meds than to make a change or deal with the withdrawal part of getting off of them.

I was on mirtazipine for over a year, it’s an atypical antidepressant med... I can’t give any info as far as Prozac goes but I was so ready to get off this med( because I Found Kratom) that I quit cold turkey ... which I can’t really recommend because of the worst kind of withdrawal I’ve ever experienced. Definitely taking to your doc is a good idea , but also if you decide to move forward with stopping , I’d wean off of it versus cold turkey, I think this might be the wiser route .
Withdrawal for me kicked in day 3 and lasted intensely for 4 days and then tapered effects at about two weeks.

I don’t regret getting off my meds and I haven’t fallen into depression since , thanks to Kratom
I am now med free and Kratom strong ...

Meds are crazy strong so I’d say talk to doc, do plenty of research and prep for the detox journey

One more thing I’d like to add...

if your ready , you can do anything, remember to be very kind to yourself and take great care when/if you decide to stop taking Prozac,

Much respect and wish you well on all your journeys :) (L)

Took 6 WEEKS for one week of bupropion (Wellbutrin/Zyban) to leave my brain alone after the last 1/2 clinical dose was taken.

I am consulting my dr about my needing help with my depression (the illness/disease, NOT the emotion/mood).

As Littlebear3 and the other wonderful people here have learned is to BE CAREFUL with self medicating decisions.

Fortunately, kratom has proven to be relatively benign plant material, unlike pharmaceuticals.

Best wishes on your ongoing journey, my friend (son I never had)...

Thanks so much Littlebear3, Somethingsacredgoinonhere, Michele373 & Laurie (The Mom >:D I Never Had).

You all have Great Advice. Couldn't ask for any better. This is just a Thought in the back of my head because I have been on Prozac for sooo long now about 15 years 60 mg Daily. I just don't feel any Different like happier when taking it. I am really scared to Taper off of it because I have been on it almost half of my Life & it is like a Part of my Body.

I am just tossing this idea around. I know there would be Withdrawals but I am wondering would I be more Depressed without Prozac. Maybe Prozac is just keeping me from going into Deep Depression & I'm just not Feeling it. It's just keeping me at a Normal Baseline Mood.

I would say to leave it alone. I asked your advice on other antidepressants and you KNEW THEM ALL from personal experience. Funny how we can forget traumas like you probably had in your day finding the right medication.

So long as you haven’t felt depressed (dark place illness, not dark place mood), you’re probably fine.
Wish I had the guts to try that medication again. It helps my loved one here very much :-)

bottom line max if its something you might eventually want to do talk to your dr when you are ready. if someone told me 10 yrs ago that I wouldn't be smoking (anything!), drinking, staying home more, and using a capsule machine to make my own legal supplements, I would have laughed so hard maybe a snort would have escaped. we have to do whats best for us when were ready. my husband had to go cold turkey cause he got laid off and COBRA for one was more expensive than our rent. when its forced its never pretty. and suboxone is expensive if its out of pocket. he climbed himself out of his rut and found a more spiritual place and a job he loves. and pretty much off all "drugs" im trying to get him to try my shilajit now cause he is still a smoker, but we are all a imperfect work in progress right? either way im rambling do whats best for you when you are ready. we are here for you!>:D

Thanks again for all the Great Advice. I just have been Tossing this Idea around in my Head about getting off my Prozac & trying something else like Kanna. I most likely will keep taking my Prozac for the rest of my Life since I haven't been in deep depression in a long time. So it must be doing it's Job.
