Hello!
How is everyone? I'm from the Pensacola, Fl area and excited to be a part of this forum. I actually just tried Kratom for the first time four days ago. I am a Veteran and deal with chronic pain. I kicked Tramadol in the spring of this year (used Gabapentin, but otherwise -cold Turkey). I went through hellish withdrawal, that I swore I would never put myself through again. Since the drop in temperature, my quality of life has dropped significantly dealing with pain. So much that I scheduled a pain management appointment today to get back on Tramadol. Well, I have found better pain relief with Kratom than I ever did with Tramadol, and likewise feel just about as Euphoric... Im shocked. I am aware of the addicting properties of Kratom, but this is seriously a wonder herb for me considering how my life was on Tramadol.

Im here to learn and have good conversation. Cheers

Hello Needtramnow, welcome to ILK. I'm pretty new to this site and Kratom too. Glad you found this herb, from what I've read re-withdrawal, they say it's like when you quit drinking coffee.
I was pretty amazed at the pain relief from Kratom myself and would rate it (for me) as effective or more so than opiate pain meds.
Also, the benefit of depression and anxiety relief.
There are lots of good people on this site and they share their knowledge. Also there are excellent articles with lots of info.
So welcome and enjoy.

Hello n welcome needtramnow. Your testimony was appreciated. I am in N.West Fl. too and on here so that, I can also D/C n rx myself, one that has felt beyond Hellish to stop. So, that was a great way to describe, your ordeal. I am trying to learn more, so I can be successful the 1st. time. I have read and heard about the red, white and green vein species, with the red veined ones being the strongest variety. But, I have not yet tried any. Do you mind sharing the one that has helped you ? I wish you continued success, on your journey...

Thank you both for the warm welcome

Indigo9-
You seem further in your research than I was when I decided to give Kratom a try. The biggest thing I actually researched was if it did in fact come up on a drug test (which I will happily share my experience with).

I did what I don't think should be done - in that I went to the closest head shop, and bought what they had. Luckily it was a good brand (Experience Botanicals), it was in capsules, and it was Maeng Da. It didn't state what kind of vein so I was thinking, "Man Im getting probably some boring stuff". I took the recommended dose (7 Caps ~4.5 G). After about 45 minutes I could tell A. I felt pretty good; and, B. This isn't a placebo effect feeling. So pretty shortly after I took about 4 more caps... after 20 minutes I felt like Tom Cruise on Top Gun (type in Experience Botanicals Maeng Da Youtube to see this guys hilarious review - in which Im referencing). The next day I took about 12 caps in the early afternoon. This time I felt like Tom Cruise on Oprah Jumping on the couch. I later went to psychedelic shack in Pensacola and bought some more Experience Maeng Da, and Experience Bali. I put about 3 teaspoons in a tea bag and steeped some strong tea. Then Tossed the wet powder in my mouth, washed with OJ, and then threw some ice cubes in the tea and downed it. This was an awesome feeling of Euphoria. The maeng da felt more like Tramadol, The Bali just felt pretty awesome. Both did wonders for pain, mood, and energy.

It should be known that I am on prescribed Effexor and Diazepam for PTSD and extreme anxiety. I fully believe that Kratom does more for all of these conditions, to include pain than any of the pharmaceutical garbage. However, I must note that Effexor is very similar in structure to Tramadol. It does not produce the same feeling whatsoever, because I don't think it does much with opiod receptors. That being said I was convinced that Maeng Da while on effexor is almost exactly the same as Tramadol, but with better pain reducing qualities.

Because I don't know your prescription I will also say this: I advised a close friend of mine to give Kratom a try because he is on Pain Management due to phantoms pains (he lost his leg in an IED that his us in Baghdad 10 years ago). He takes Norcos daily. He got a little out of the random, no band name, no description Maeng Da he bought at a headshop near him in Birmingham... but I chalked that up to Norco "overpowering" the Kratom. He did call me later saying that the biggest thing he noticed was that his finger (which was broken is four different spots while training horses) was not in pain at all. That is saying a lot from a guy on Norcos with phantom pains from a missing limb who has very acute strong pain in his finger, and the Kratom doing the trick.

With all of this said i would advise NOT buying from a headshop. I'm lucky they carried a reputable brand, but not all do. A lot of the false positive drug test reports come from people buying at headshops. It also is not good for the Kratom imagine that I now choose to support. It is also extremely expensive considering the variety and quality you can get from reputable vendors on this site. I paid 45$ for around an ounce.

On my drug test experience. I bought an at home 12 panel test and put Kratom through my own analysis. I had taken kratom twice the day before and the morning of the test, likewise with Effexor and Diazepam in my system. The results of the test were that I tested positive for Benzodiazepines and ...... PCP!!!! I freaked out! I've never even seen PCP in a movie, let alone in person. It turns out that Effexor causes a false positive for PCP in many cases. I've heard of Kratom causing a false positive for Methadone, but with confirmation testing, they will see that you haven't taken methadone. I did NOT test positive for methadone (and yes it was a category on the test).

Look into different varieties online so that you can find your favorite strain and appropriate dose. If you do go against advice and god to a headshot, I would advise against Lucky brand. I got nothing from all of the Lucky brand products I tried. My wallet was slapping me and I decided to do more research, found this forum and honestly choose not to flood the net any longer looking for answers because you can get horrified by reading things online.

Last thing... If you took your pain medication, you might not get a lot out of Kratom.... Im not sure, but Im just assuming. When you decide that you want to kick the stuff... I would honestly recommend stopping long enough to start feeling the onset of withdrawal. When that happens, then start working with the Kratom to see which and how much has positive effects on your withdrawal. I would also recommend tapering as well. There is no reason to put yourself in agony unless you want to use the agony to fuel your necessity to stop all medications.

I am not a doctor, I am not giving medical advise, just my own experience. I hope this long read helps!

@ needtramnow
Great testimonial and also thank you for your military service, many don't know that the battle doesn't end when you leave the war zone.
I haven't tried the Mang da yet, just the Red Vein Borneo and Green Malay. The red I find is excellent for pain relief also it stops any opiate withdrawal symptoms like magic.....I was amazed. I stopped taking my prescription pain med and when I started feeling the withdrawal symptoms, I took one and half teaspoons of the Red, within 20 minutes I felt great, definitely not placebo related.
I believe this herb is the answer to many maladies and it's a natural remedy backed by thousands of years of use.

Hey Needtramnow,

Welcome to our Kratom homebase and I'm happy you found us here, and thank for the service, I'm prior service as well just never deployed (11B)

I'm hoping this us still finding you still having a good experience with your Kratom. I would not worry about addiction liabilities with Kratom though. It is possible but it is a far possibility as long as your not pouring louds of it every day. And I take it every day as a regular medication for over 7 years. I know a lot about Kratom, I've done a lot of research and study on it. So if you ever have any question please feel free to ask any question you have at any time. I try and check this as much as I can so I will get back to you as soon as possible.

But stick with it. I really and truly think Kratom can be one of those magic herbs out there that can help out the vets that our coming home and don't want to be hooked on man made pharmaceuticals. I hope this finds you well and if you need anything just shoot me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Take it easy and have a good week!
