Just introducing myself. I ran across you're community today and after reading a few threads was impressed at what a wonderful resource y'all have created!

A little about me: I've been taking a 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of kratom everyday for about the past 6 years. Before that I was on a varying cocktail of SSRIs, antipsychotics, and opioid pain meds for PTSD and the associated depression and anxiety. by the time I was 17 I reached a point where I was on a half gram of seroquel, 200mg of zoloft and a few loratabs everyday just to treat the symptoms. Kratom came into my life and I've been off of all of my medications and nearly symptom free for the better part of 5 years. Kratom DID NOT cure my illness. What it DID do was quiet my symptoms to the point where I could start working towards my mental health. It did this without any side effects. Having kratom as a tool has changed the outlook of my life from one of sedation in the back seat to one of joy in the driver's seat. Unlike the medications I was on, when I stop for a few days when my symptoms are at their fewest, I don't get terrible withdrawal symptoms. Unlike opioids, I saw my tolerance drop after about a year of daily use. I wen't from 3-4 tablespoons per day to half a tablespoon for equivalent effects, although this might be due to the other medications leaving my body, my tolerance hasn't gone up since.

Something that i've been curious about, and i'm sure i'm not alone, is about negative health effects. I know that there has hardly been any research done other that the chemistry of the plant, but does anyone know of any negative health effects from longterm daily use?

Thanks and peace!

Welcome Abraxas and that is an inspiring testimony. I'm sure you'll like this forum, lots of good and knowledgable people here and I'm sure you will add your knowledge too.
Any negative side effects I've seen reported, even with the lack of studies, have been minor compared to the horrors I've read on pharmaceutical warning labels. Personally, I'm not too worried and appreciate the many benefits it gives.
Glad you joined us my friend :)

Thanks guys! I'm glad to be here. I'm not sure that there's much that could ever match the horrors on the side of prescription bottles! The second biggest trauma in my life were the medications used to treat the first one. How ridiculous it is that that is all too often the story in our society.

Welcome to I LOVE KRATOM!!

What an awesome life journey your having. Your words express truly what I feel kratom has helped do for my life.

There's someone in another topic/discussion having a hard time in life etc.. And as I read your words it really is exactly what I wanted to convey to this person.

I can handle some of the side effects of long term daily use of kratom, so far. Trying to manage from becoming constipated...Headaches etc...But all those side effects can easily be handled. For instance if I am starting to get headaches, It's because I am not drinking enough water :)

And I hope theres more research in the future showing how it affects the liver, heart, kidneys etc. But some of the potentiates I take, actually help with those parts of the body. Go figure.

A whole lot simpler than if I was on prescription pills and I had to take another pill to combat those side effects from the first pills...and then you need to take something to combat those side effects!!

Glad to have someone else here to bounce thoughts off of.

Jason

Thanks guys.

Jason, I've found that burning my kratom with a teaspoon of un-pasteurized apple cider vinegar with "the mother" has eliminated any digestive problems i've been having. What potentiates do you use? I've used theanine in the past, but its been years...

Thanks!
