Hello everybody! I'm about 2 months into burning Plain leaf Kratom about 3-4 times everyda (around 12g a day). Pardon my ignorance, but a big reason why I jointed this forum was to hopefully educate myself by talking with other people who benefit from Kratom!

One thing I have noticed is I am really struggling to get stronger and be dedicated in the gym like I used to be. I don't know if it is correlated to the Kratom, but it seems that anytime I lift weights my muscles do not recover as fast as they would before using Kratom. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, I play basketball about three nights a week and I feel like my lungs are no where near where they should be with the amount of running I do weekly. I read a post about Respiratory Depression on here and immediately thought to myself "hey that's EXACTLY what I experienced in that game, or on that jog" taking a deep breath and it kind of not being there.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if The Kratom responsible for my physical limitations. It seems to be a wonderful plant but I have not been able to excel physically, and have not seen results from the work I have put in the gym since Burning Kratom daily. Anyone else experience this? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Hey BINF216,

Welcome to the ILK forum, my name's Michael and I'm one of the mods here. If you have any questions or troubles with the functionality of the website feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I'm glad you found the site, there's a lot of good Kratom info and users here and everyone's looking to help eachother. It's a good group for sure!

So the first question that comes to mind for me to ask you is what has got you taking Kratom in the first place? From what you're saying here, it sounds like you wish to use it to help you have energy and motivation to continue your active lifestyle, am I correct in assuming this?

One thing I will say is that if you're using Kratom recreationally, which I see no problem in if done responsibly, you are using a whole lot! I personally never use Kratom more than twice a day, that being one time to use it to get going and one time to chill out. If you're using it 3-4 times a day, you're going to burn yourself out on it very quickly. You'll gain tolerance and will lose the effects from the plant, and it will take higher doses to affect you. These higher doses is where respiratory depression could kick in.

Kratom is an extremely mild respiratory depressant, not coming anywhere near opiates. Nontheless, if used in high dosage, it does have characteristics that will cause a bit of respiratory depression so this may be what you're feeling.

To sum up, I think you should switch up your amounts by lowering them and spacing them out, and take some days off to let your body recover. I have no clue how Kratom would affect muscle recovery, although I would imagine it wouldn't interfere. Sorry for the novel, just my 2 cents.

Very Well Said michaels. Yes the higher the dosage the more sedative the effects become & more it depresses your central nervous system which could make you weak. Just a Thought. My 1 cent. :S
If anybody has any Questions about Kratom please private message me & I will be glad to answer as soon as I can.

Thanks Michaels, your response is extremely helpful!

To answer your first question, I use primarily for what you said. I have a very demanding job and I'm also a father of 5 so as you could imagine my lifestyle can be hectic a lot of times. The extra energy and overall sense of well being helps a lot!

I honestly was unsure of how much I take, I just did the math based on how quick I'd go through 1 oz. I thought I was taking very small doses! (I'd just pour a little bit in a small cup and toss n wash away!

How would you recommend going about cutting down? Should i taper? How frequent should I burn? What amount would be good enough for what I'm looking for?

Hey thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the feedback MadMax!

And you're welcome Bin. Wow, 5 kids! I can only imagine how demanding your lifestyle could be at times. I must say that I'm very impressed that you can maintain a healthy lifestyle on top of that, it's more than most could do.

I would recommend either going cold turkey for a few days and starting on your new lower dosage, or if that's not an option than I would taper down as you asked. An instant drop in dosage would most likely result in you getting no effects from the lower dose which could be discouraging so I wouldn't suggest that.

I would stick to anywhere from 2 to 4 grams per dosage. It sounds like that's what you were taking I just wouldn't take more than 2 doses in one day. If necessary, than it is what it is, but you must understand that the more your body gets used to something, the less of an effect you'll get from it. I suggest taking days off, or using a significant amount less on certain days to avoid tolerance. You can also switch up strains from day to day to mix it up and not get your body on such a routine where it becomes your new norm.

The bottom line is, keep your body guessing and moderate! As long as you're always checking yourself you'll do just fine and you'll continue to enjoy Speciosa! :-bd

I will occasionally burn 2-3 grams of a white, green or combination veined kratom before going to the gym. On the other days I won't take the kratom but I will have coffee or preworkout. This helps a little with tolerance with both caffeine and kratom. I find kratom doesn't negatively affect my strength or endurance.
You say you are struggling to get stronger. I would venture to say playing bball 3 to 4 nights per week and being a father of 5 will impact your strength gains. The two main keys to gaining strength are consistence and progressive overload.

Also most nights I will burn 4-8 grams of a red vein kratom to help with sleep and occasionally RLS/RAS.
