BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND...
A few months ago we asked some of the Approved Vendors to offer some discounts to our community. A lot of them graciously did. We have been asked to bring those discounts back. The following vendors would like to share the love for this forum with you. I know we all appreciate it.

OK, so far I've found that maeng da is great for energy, but I need something to help me relax and sleep, as well as alleviate me back pain. Red kali feels a bit icky to me, and kept me awake all night. If I have this right, red vein varieties are meant to be best for pain and relaxation. What about the white vein ones? If anyone could help me sort this out I'd appreciate the input. Don't have much money to buy a bunch of different ones and experiment. I know a lot depends on the individual, but I'd love some bullet points to move me in the right direction. Also, don't know if anyone is allowed to tell me vendors with whom you've had good luck, or ones with free samples? Thanks in advance!

Reds are the more relaxing, pain relievers, I take a red every evening at about 7 or so. I've found that Red Malaysian (Malay), is a very good ralaxer, that and red Borneo, or red horned Borneo or Malay. Horned is just a characteristic of the leaves. Red Maeng da has a little too much energy for me. Red Jong kong is pretty good too. I like christophersorganicbotanicals.com , pharmacydropout is pretty good too. Look at the vendors list and check out different websites to see what the prices are and such. Or search the forum for people talking about certain vendors and you should get a pretty good idea of what or who's are the best.

Welcome to ILK Jinga! Being a newbie to kratom can be overwhelming. You'll find lots of knowledge and experience on this forum. I'm on a very strict budget so I understand where you're coming from.

In general Red's are usually more relaxing. However, I find Red Maeng Da to be on the energetic side, same for Red Thai.

I think the way to go for a beginner is to purchase a sampler pack. I agree with cybin_spores recommendation of Christopher's Organic Botanicals.

The 8oz sampler includes free shipping & 1 oz free for $45. You choose the strains you want. Use code ILK for 10% off your first purchase.

Customer Service is excellent as well as the quality of the kratom. As for Red's from C.O.B I'd suggest Red Horn (My Favorite),Red Agatha, Red Mahakam, and Red Borneo.

If you'd like to try White's I'd recommend his White Vietnam and White Maeng Da. I also like his Green Maeng Da and Yellow Vietnam. The Green Riau and Green Mahakam are highly rated. For me they are more relaxing than energetic. Check out the site and you can read the reviews on his most popular strains.

White's tend to be more energizing. Green's are in between Red's & White's. Yellow's originate from either a Red or a White Veined strain, that's gone through a special drying process. A lot of strains will provide pain relief even if they're not Red's.

I spent a lot of time researching kratom and read reviews of vendor's before I made my first purchase. I always Google "Recent reviews of <insert vendor's name>. A wealth of info can be found on this site. Search Rate a Vendor/Vendor Reviews.

Lots of info can be found about kratom on the Net. A comprehensive guide that I found helpful is provided by Ensobotanicals.

Another vendor I can vouch for is Canopy Botanicals. You get about an oz. for $3.80 and a 10 gram sample is included. Shipping is reasonably priced. Orders are processed quickly. I like the Red Jong Kong, Red Malay, Bentuangie, and Red Hulu Kapuas. Personally, I can take the Red Malay & Red Hulu in the day and it doesn't make me tired.

HB&M is having a sale on their kratom, $4.99 an oz. It's a vendor that's highly recommended. SoCal has cheap & quality kratom, though it's sold in larger quantities. A sampler pack is offered for $25 but you can't choose the strains, they often change, and sell out quickly. Motark is another reliable vendor; 250 grams is $11.

Individual responses will vary, sometimes greatly. For example, Madmaxnightrider reviewed Canopy Botanicals and he could barely stay awake after taking the Red Hulu Kapuas. So you will need to experiment.

We are allowed to recommend vendors on here. Don't go by the approved vendor list, it's outdated!

Btw I've seen kratom prices as high as $30 an oz.... you don't need to pay ridiculous prices for quality kratom!

Hopefully this helps you. Keep searching this site as well as others and you will definitely find what you need. TC

Thanks so much for the info! I find red kali won't let me sleep, so looking for another red. I've seen red sundra mentioned elsewhere? Any experience with that one? I know everyone is different, but wow, there's sooo much stuff!
Also, I've had enhanced varieties that I've been making into tea and taking a couple of swallows as a dose. I have 1 oz. of regular red kali. It's quite bulky. I see people talking of taking several ounces at a time as a serving. How do you personally use it? As a tea? How much tea will one ounce make? The vendors can be cryptic about use, if it's even mentioned at all...I expect there are reasons why they need to be careful about wording and recommendations, but do you know if there are any sites that give advice regarding preparation? Thanks! :)

Thanks very much! Next question for me is, preparation and servings...gosh, it's like learning to bake without a cookbook! So glad there are forums, and that people are so nice!

Hi...I just wanted to mention quick that i think you mean grams...not ounces. 28 grams is an ounce and if you took ounces instead of grams it would be WAY too much....several grams is a dose. Anyway, I am hoping I understood you correctly there, i have a little processing disorder and sometimes read things wrong, but wanted to reply quick before you took several ounces....good luck!

If you don't have a small scale I'd recommend purchasing one. You can get a digital scale from amazon for about $10.

I keep a spreadsheet of my daily usage including grams, strain, and my rating of the strain. I take about 5 grams per serving but started with only about a gram per serving when I was a newbie. (which was plenty) I put a glass on the scale, turn it on, measure the amount needed for me, then mix in hot/boiling water. The hot water helps as it may be difficult to mix with cold water. I then thow in ice cubes to cool it down and chug it.

One thing to note, and this should help with sleep, is to purchase some Magnesium citrate. I take about 8 grams every other night (which is 2 servings per the label) and this helps with sleep, makes the next day's dose a little stronger, and helps with the constipation which you may experience.

Here are a few other random tips:
Make sure you drink plenty of water (otherwise you may get a head ache)
Stick with one strain per day to keep your tolerance down
Try as many samples from different vendors that you can afford as different kratom strains can affect people in different ways
Lots of good vendors mentioned in this thread. I will also mention MMMspeciosa, and ethnosunlimited are very good vendors.

This site has been helpful to me as has Google. Best of luck to you!

I've never tried Red Kali, however it's supposed to be a relaxing strain. That being said, individual responses vary. HB&M offers Red Sunda.

Vendors have to be careful about what they say to customers. Most vendors who sell kratom state, "Not For Human Consumption" in order to protect themselves from liability. This is slowly changing. You're unlikely to get recommendations from them as to what strain may be best for you.

There are various reasons people use kratom. What are you looking for: pain relief, sleep aid, reduced anxiety or depression, mood lift, energy, or all of these? Certain strains work better for specific conditions. I know I've said individual effects will differ, I can't stress this enough!!

I've given you general guidelines in my other post. You will need to experiment with different strains and/or dosage to get the desired effect. Always start with the lowest dose possible.

I'm still experimenting and I have over 40 strains in small amounts. Been taking kratom for about 5 months.

I started taking 1 measuring tsp. which equals about 2 grams. I still take this amount. You can start out as low as 1/2 a gram and work your way up to find your "sweet spot". That's the amount you need to take to feel the effects you're looking for. Taking more is just a waste of kratom.

I've never made tea because you lose some potency from the heat of the water. Don't boil the water. Some people use crushed leaf versus the powdered form for tea. You can use a coffee maker. Put the crushed leaf or powdered kratom in the filter. You can add honey to make it taste better. Recipes can be found on the net and here.

Kratom is best taken on an empty stomach. The most effective way to take is using the Toss N Wash method. I put the kratom powder in my mouth, take a sip off water, swish around, then swallow. Followed by more water. Many people use orange juice.

**It's best to stay away from enhanced kratom. It will make your tolerance go up very quickly.

How much do you take of plain leaf kratom (not enhanced)? How much enhanced? You should need much less if your using enhanced varieties.

Other's have given good advice. You have to increase the amount of water you drink. I also take Magnesium to prevent constipation.

I'd stick to the vendor's that have been suggested. You know you'll get quality kratom.

For more info, check out kratomguides.com and ensobotanicals.com, this will answer a lot of the general questions you have.

Best Wishes!
