Hi there, so greens tend to have more energetic properties
Whites tend to have mood lifting properties
Reds have energizing and relaxing properties, depending on type and amount and good pain killing
Also, are you over 18?

FYI - A few kilos could last several years depending on your dose.

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, meemadd!
Good to have you here!
Kratom strains by the kilo is for the long term user, generally. Just an unsolicited suggestion - start smaller. An entire kilo of one strain is not like stocking up on rice in bulk. That one batch will have differing and changing benefits (and could be no benefits on some days).
Good idea getting some samples to start! Have fun and let us know how you feel as you go :)

I use Kratom for arthritic pain relief. Reds are best for me followed by yellows. (osteoarthritis is my affliction)

It takes a while to find what works best for each individual You have to be willing to experiment...no single formula or recipe will work the same way for each person.

I started with Red Bali and Red Thai at 2 Gms (4 times per day) and got good pain relief BUT even better pain relief at 4 gms. Over time I just gradually increased the dose to get the relief I needed. Then I started trying out different strains to get more variety.

I am trying Greens right now and they do not seem to be very effective for me. Whites are good for balancing out energy since some of the reds can be quite sedating, but for me they pack too much of a punch and I get jittery and nervous.

Start with sample packs, NOT KILOS! Most vendors have sample packs available specifically so you can sample product to see what works best for you.
I would suggest a sample pack with Red Borneo, Red Thai, Red Bali and then maybe a yellow like Yellow Sumatra if you can get it. This would give you the chance to see how they all work for you and then you re-order based on your experience.

Many users will keep notes on each strain when starting. The other day I tried a new strain and it did absolutely NOTHING for me. When I went back and checked my notes I saw that the first time I used it I recorded "Did Nothing"...I should have checked my notes first! HA! Experiences like this are why you start with SMALL sample packs. This strain goes to the back of my cupboard for now! I HAVE purchased kilos but only strains that have been tried and true for me and ONLY when they are on sale!

This is a very friendly community and a great place to share your experiences so we can all learn together!

This is really good advice. I am relatively new to Kratom and using it for pain / anxiety relief. Continue to try different strains to see what works for me. Tried a red blend recently and it made me "jittery and nervous" as well, to quote `bomalley`. Everyone is different, you just need to jump in and try small amounts of a lot of strains to see what works for your ailments.

I noticed you said you tried a red blend. Could you define the word "blend"? I get the impression by the word blend that it was a mixture of different red strains or did you mean to say a red strain.

Most commonly kratom will be defined by what color the leafs vein is, (red)(green)(white)(yellow) and then followed by the region it is from (Malay)(Vietnam)(Bali).

Commonly the drying/fermentation process with Kratom is called (Bentuangie).

Not all bentuangie's color and taste profiles are the same; Taunton bays Red bentuangie is a darker green color with a milder astringant taste than other kratom. Kratora's Red bentuangie is a more yellow brown color with a very mild almost chocolate taste to it. Carpos botanicals Green Cerah Malay is a very light green edging to white color with a milder astringent taste than other kratom. It feels more like a red than a green.
I find Bentuangie/fermented variety works slow and lasts long with out any edges.

When I see venders advertising a strain as something like, purple unicorn treehugger delight poop, I tend to avoid it. I find its best to blend your own so you know what of what you are taking. Besides I believe kratom should be labeled and enforced as such just like wine is,,, I want to know the region and the strain this plant is from.

One good thing to keep in mind is, "less is often more".
Each person seems to have a sweet spot. It's good to have a digital scale so you can see how many grams your taking if you really want to fine tune or start making blends of your own.
Some signs of taking to much are tension headaches, irritability, sudden lethargy. Try a little less of the strain that have undesirable effects for you.

For me red kali gives me tension headaches if I take to much.

I myself use Kratom mostly for work pains. I could say depression since I get around more and socialize more like a used to when I was younger but don't really consider myself as a depressed person to begin with.

I find Greens from the Malay region are pretty good for me, They give good energy, feelings of well being and good pain relief without the sedative effects reds give. Not to mention greens can work up to 6-8 hours instead of 4-6.

As for kilos, don't just drop on a kilo like others said. What I do is I get different strains from a place usually about a OZ each. That way I can try it at different times of the day and in varied doses to see how the strain is for me. Then I'll get a kilo ASAP to insure it's the same batch. Also some venders also sell 1 pounders as well instead of the whole 2.2#kilo.

It was a blend of different red strains from a vendor.
