Hello everybody! We're brand new to Kratom and the forum, and are thrilled to have discovered both! We hope sharing our first experience, along w/ the strains and vendor review will help others, the way so many of your posts have helped us!

Hubby and I suffer from different types of chronic and acute pain, some stemming from injuries, a botched back surgery, as well as tendinitis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, spinal and cervical stenosis, bulging discs, & nerve damage etc. Our pain levels vary from manageable to unbearable...lately, my pain has been off the charts, so this discovery couldn't have come at a better time.

We avoid Rx meds in general due to all of the side effects and interactions, and opt for natural remedies whenever feasible.

Our first order was a variety of red samples from Kratomtradingco.com. They shipped very quickly, baggies were well packaged, and labeled clearly. Their customer service was excellent on the phone, extremely professional. Since we have no basis for comparison regarding the product itself, we'll have to comment on that in the future as we try other vendors' products.

First dose, this AM: 2 gms each of Red Maeng Da mixed with water and moringa powder and 2 chewable vitamin C tablets. The effects changed as the hours went by, but lasted about 6 hours total for each of us. In the am I could hardly walk due to knee pain. W/in an hour of taking the Kratom, my back and knee pain were greatly reduced to a completely manageable level, by at least 90%! That was the best part! The effects also included a deep sense of relaxation, a warming sensation, like a towel right out of the dryer was wrapped around you on a cold day, slight sleepiness, and reduction of anxiety. Hubby reacted a bit differently, his tendinitis pain was close to gone, but he felt a surge of energy and boost of joy for about 6 hours.

At one point, my stomach felt a bit queasy, but I believe it was from taking the vitamin C on an empty stomach which always irritates my tummy. It resolved quickly though and i was fine.

First try was a total success! Around 8pm, the effects were about all gone, so I decided to take a dose of the Red Borneo strain (same vendor). Hubby chose not to take another dose today. This time I took 2 grams, mixed with only water and stevia. The sensations of warmth and relaxation were markedly more powerful with this strain. Both seem to equally relieve pain, but the Red Borneo seems to have more of a sedative effect, fantastic for bed time!

So far, we would recommend Kratom to anyone who needed it and also would highly recommend Kratomtradingco.com. The only thing i wish Kratomtradingco.com would improve upon is their labels on the baggies. The print seems to rub off very easily, so we had to label each bag ourselves w/ a sharpie to be sure we don't mix the strains up. That is very minor though, and we'd give them 5 out of 5 stars for sure!

Wishing everyone a pain free night :)!

From my own experience I think the stomach queasiness will go away as your body gets more accustomed to the alkaloids.

You should also have good results just using the Kratom if you have not used other opiate pain relievers. Some of us have opiate recpetors that are used to REAL opiates and getting use the the agonists sometimes means taking larger doses more frequently.

Glad to have you on board.

Friendly warning ...if you are going to be using Kratom regularly be warned that it will cause constipation. Best to take a proactive approach with this.

Search on this forum for "Digestive Issues" and you will find a thread that has lots of GREAT info on how to handle this.

Thanks for the feedback bomalley!

I think I'm noticing the digestive issues you mentioned, lol...going to ramp up the water!

Have you experienced better sleep? We have lots to learn yet, but based on just two tries, the red borneo seems to be the answer to my lifelong insomnia...slept like a baby (no pain at all) and woke up refreshed for the first time in many years! I had forgotten what it felt like to be well rested and wake up w/o pain. It's pretty awesome!

You are going to need a lot more than just water!....

As long as I take my Kratom regularly I sleep VERY well.

I have chronic pain as well and pain used to keep me up so I used the Kratom during the night. However, other treatment strategies (exercise, relaxation, anti-inflammatory diet etc have been VERY successful (but it has taken 5 years) in re-mediating my chronic back pain so I do not need to take it in the night anymore. However, I do take Kratom 4 times during the day to help manage pain and keep myself active and off the couch.

and YES...the reds are sedating and help with sleep.

BTW...there is a honeymoon phase with Kratom where everything seem GREAT and users are "over the moon" with happiness about its effect. Long term use will modulate that somewhat and then people think it has stopped working. However, speaking as user of over one year it DOES keep working . I just have to stop taking it to realize how much it actually is doing for me!

I've used kratom for over 4 years.
Honeymoon phase is true but the marriage is better.
I use 1 tablespoon for chronic pain a few times daily .
Without it I'm not sure I'd be able to do what I do each day.
God bless
We always provide top quality organic kratom at reasonable prices.
God bless and have a great day.

Glad to hear you are able to sleep well now w/o Kratom at night, that is a major accomplishment, so you're doing something(s) right for sure!

Do you follow a specific anti-inflammatory diet that helps you have less pain and stay regular? I'd appreciate any recommendations you'd like to share. Before discovering Kratom, my main weapon against chronic pain has been a green morning drink that has all sorts of herbs, spices, msm powder, matcha powder, etc. It honestly tasted pretty horrible for the first few years, but it helps so much that I drank it anyway. Now I'm used to it and miss it if I skip a day! We were surprised by the taste of kratom, we were expecting something awful based on what people said, but we actually enjoyed it, lol! It is a lot like matcha, right up our alley :)!

Re: our diet. We eat almost all whole foods made at home, no sugar, very few grains or fruit (b/c of the sugar), almost no night-shades (except for tomatoes and the occasional eggplant), lots of fermented foods, not much dairy other than yogurt and some cheese. We do eat lots of greens, veggies, fiber, healing spices/herbs, healthy fats and moderate meats. I agree w/ you, diet is supremely important! We've fallen off the wagon a couple times and felt it in our health and pain levels quickly! The old saying is true: Food is thy medicine and medicine thy food!

We're *pretty* good at relaxing our bodies and minds, stretching, walking, moving etc. but strenuous exercise is something that I've developed a fear of to be honest. I've gotten so injured trying to exercise that I avoid it. I know I need to do more, just not sure *what* to do?

bomalley & C.O.B., good to know about the honeymoon phase. I can totally see that happening right now! After not sleeping well for literally years, and then bam, perfect night's sleep after kratom, I am kinda in love right now! Hopefully we can figure out how to keep the effects going forever. The little we know is to cycle off as much as possible and to rotate strains to keep from developing a tolerance.

Are there any resources that helped you along your healing path? It's great to know that you have figured out how to manage your pain in a healthy way, gives us lots of hope. Thank you so much for sharing! You're a wealth of information!

joegreen:

My anti-inflammtory approach is to follow the blood type diet which for me is grain free, mostly dairy free, potato free, corn free, and a few other "frees". I also take Boswellia (Indian frankinsence) and glucosamine which together over the long term have made a big difference. Use the forums search feature and search on the keyword Boswellia for an interesting thread.

I also try to eat as clean as possible, using organic produce and avoiding all processed, canned, or packaged foods. I make everything from scratch including ketchup and salad dressings. I do not even use toothpaste anymore just equal parts coconut oil and baking soda. Dentist says my teeth should last as long as I do! I have also been doing green juicing for 4 years now and that has also made a huge difference.

For exercise I chose Yoga. There is a yoga studio about 2 blocks from my home that spcializes in an "alignment" approach which is what I needed. Plus you can do yoga while on your back, or all fours because when I started I could hardly stand longer than 15 min.

Pain in my back ESCALATED dramatically when I started, and I had to use oxycodone just to get to the studio. But as I got stronger and my alignment improved (I was VERY crooked), pain started to decrease. Movement is still painful and Kratom helps with that, BUT at least I am not in pain all the time now. I also walk using walking poles. I was unable to stay on my feet for 15 min without pain when I started and now I can do a good 4K walk. This has taken 5 years of consistent regular exercise - I was very disciplined with it and now I use Kratom BEFORE I exercise. I gave up the oxycodone for good just one year ago after 3 years of use.

The yoga has also been good for relaxation and stress reduction which as you know helps to manage pain as well.

Chiropractic has always been a part of my treatment plan. Osteopathy also. Massage therapy has been helpful at various times and homeopathy has provided some amazing results...even with back pain.

Chronic pain management is really all about self management and each person has to find their way through a maize of treatment options to find what works for them. Last year I started seeing a physiotherapist for severe rib cage pain and over the last year with regular manipulations and manual therapies to release tight muscle groups and bring my skeleton into alignment, things have improved about 85% in that area. So I am very happy with that.
I do Pilates (reformer) once per week.

Management of chronic pain is a journey guided by professionals but driven by the patient.

Improved sleep was one of the benefits fo Kratom I was not expecting but am thankful for that too!

So that in a VERY large nutshell is my back story. If any of that can help someone else I would be VERY happy.

Oh and BTW I live in Canada....completely different approach to health care here.
