A few months ago we asked some of the Approved Vendors to offer some discounts to our community. A lot of them graciously did. We have been asked to bring those discounts back. The following vendors would like to share the love for this forum with you. I know we all appreciate it.

I've been reading about kratom, and have decided to give it a try. However, I'm confused as to where to order, what to order, and how much to take initially.

I'm hoping to get help for migraines, depression, anxiety, and osteoarthritis pain. Any suggestions on what to try first? I've read that the reds are good for pain, but are they also helpful for anxiety and depression?

How do you know how much to take on the first few doses? Very low doses of most medicines seem to work well for me, so I wouldn't want to start with too much.

I was seriously considering placing an order for a sample pack from one vendor, but it had the disclaimer that their products were for external use only. Are they limiting their liability, or are some products not meant for consumption?

It's confusing. Also, although these products are currently legal, I'm wondering how discrete the packaging is from various vendors? I have privacy concerns here in Small Town USA. B-)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm enjoying reading this forum and I'm hoping to post a success story soon!

Scroll back UP and to the right for the tab, VENDORS. Click that. The vetted, approved as safe for shopping list is there, along with gobs of reviews written by members on them and other suppliers. Start there. Look for the similar issues you want to improve (pain, mood etc) and the reviews will likely find you a deal. To order SOMETHING for while you read (recommended), grab a SAMPLE PACK from Serenity Botanicals aka GABOTANICALS for $10 with a good sized dab of each to try for a good week or so while you do more research. Ask for Jeff or Kimberley and let them know Laurie at ILK sent you. They’ll be alerted to put more literature and samples in your order.
It’s a great MY FIRST KRATOM package. Free shipping when I got mine!

I live in a small town also, with one small post office and everybody pretty much knows everybody. When I get my packages they are always in a standard USPS package, either a bag or box or large white envelope. The labels from where it is coming from is usually just the seller’s name, or an abbreviation of the company. I’ve never got a package that actually says ‘kratom’ on It. So I would not worry about it.
One thing that did happen to me is the person I was buying from, packaged their Kratom in ziplock bags and it bursted open in transit and there was green powder in the usps vehicle and in the office. I told them I make my own incense sticks. Anybody I order from anymore have correct packages that are sealed correctly. That vendor that those bags were from is not on the approved vendor list, so you should feel comfortable ordering from the list.

They are limiting their liability. Kratom is not an approved supplement.
All the vendors that are vetted here have this disclaimer.
I have ordered from Re-Leaf LLC(need to become a member and follow instructions)- " the Kratom sommelier" Pa Botancials, kratominsense, Canopy Botanicals(enter speciosa in the search bar)-budget friendly and SoCal herbal remedies(speciosa also in the search bar)-also budget friendly
I have consumed Kratom from all of them. They all have this disclaimer.
SoCal herbal was running a special 9- 1oz sample packs for about 25.00 plus shipping if you enter SAMPLE9. I just received this and so far the two samples I tried were very good. Super Red Borneo, chocolate Bentangie are the first two I have sampled out of the nine.
My main vendors are Re-leaf, Pa botanical, and Canopy. It depends on my budget too.
I take Kratom for spinal arthritis and have been taking Kratom very successfully for about 4 months.
I started with the Red Stains because they are known to be pain relieving but I also have been rotating strains and found that greens help with pain and anxiety. After I found my strains that help with pain I have been trying out other strains like whites but they are not quite as effective for pain for me. They help with energy and focus but give me a slight heady feeling.
Red Bali, Red Borneo, are great for pain. Red Sumatra is the most sedating for me. Red Meang Da starts out energetic and winds down to relaxing. Also Red Thai.
Greens for pain. Green Malay and I found Green Borneo a great all around strain that treats pain , mental lift, energy.
Dosing I also have effects from low doses of most medicines.I started Kratom with one level teaspoon. Which is about 2 grams. Two grams is consider a lose dose. Most would recommend starting 1.5 grams and increasing 1/2 gram until you find your dose.
I have stayed at 2.3 grams of Kratom one or twice a day and I now currently rotate strains, and write down notes on how each strain effected me and want I want to take for that day. I also bought a pocket scale to measure my teaspoon dose so I can control my dosing and resist tolerance. I stir a teaspoon of Kratom right into a glass of water and drink it. I am a heavy drinker of unsweetened hot green tea and find the "off" taste of kratom powder not a problem.
I hope some of the above made some sense .

I have to admit that my anxiety level rose when I started ingesting a product labelled "not for human consumption".

Have you ever read the list of side effects and complications for prescription medication? and yet they are considered safe and people take them anyway...so I thought I was safe enough with Kratom.

There is a big difference between "not safe for human consumption" and "not for human consumption".

The latter can simply mean that this form of the substance is not to be consumed, or that it is for veterinary use only, so it is not a safety issue when labelled like that.

That one word makes a big difference.

I live in Canada and vendors are not allowed to make any claims that M speciosa can treat a health condition so all vendors use the phrase "not for human consumption" and sell it for research, incense, candle making and research only....I do a lot of that!

Welcome Bridget...start with 2 gms. It seems to be a good starting amount for most everyone BUT if you have a sensitive stomach or are prone to gastrointestinal upsets then a smaller dose might be adviseable to start.

You start simply by...well...starting ... and notice the effects. You increase/decrease or otherwise adjust the dose until you get the effects you are seeking. Responsible use of Kratom means that you take the least amount needed to achieve the beneficial results you desire.

Frequency is something that you can experiment with too. Some people take small amounts often and others take larger amounts less often.

I take 4.5 Gms 4 times per day, but recently that has come down to 3 times per day as my other therapies are working well and pain is more under control - YEAH!

Not sure what more I can add as others have given good advice here but will mention 2 things:
  1. please stay hydrated...Kratom can contribute to dehydration, which can lead to headaches.
  2. Please look after your bowels and be proactive with this. DO NOT wait until you are so constipated you are in pain to do so something

Kratom binds to the mu receptors in the bowel (just like opiates) and causes things to slow down. Do a search on this forum for "digestive issues" some really good info there for how to manage your bowels.

Welcome to the great Kratom experiment!

Come back when you get it and we’ll be here to answer questions if you have any. Also, the ILK approved vendors are amazing with customer service and response time (part of why they’re approved), so email or call vendors and ASK QUESTIONS. Don’t worry that we’ve been asked a million times before. That goes for anyone at any stage of the journey!
