I recently started experimenting with Kratom for my chronic neck pain. I was tired of taking Norco 10/325 for pain, and have built up quite a tolerance to it.

I have had very good luck with Greenleaf Kratom's Red Relief blend, and have tried a bunch of vendors.

I purchased from Coastline Kratom a couple of weeks ago, and felt like I had to take a ton of their Kratom to feel anything. I've gotten used to capsules, and they don't offer Kratom in capsule form, so I'm wondering if I'm simply taking it incorrectly? Is it possible to dose Kratom without a scale? Is there a "dosage" that's comparable to 2 norco 10's?

Thanks! I'm a grad student and mom of a toddler, so I can't afford to be slowed down by pain.

Hello welcome to the forum.

I am on the run. I can answer more questions later. You will get answers here soon enough from very knowledgeable peeps. But I wanted to quickly mention buy the scale. Its the only way to manage your dosage and prevent tolerance issues. Different grinds of powder can vary from vendor to vendor and strain to strain. But the average is a leveled off teaspoon is about 2 grams.

Best!

Welcome, Mle428!
Sounds like you are on the right track.
What works best for me is Red Vietnam and Red Bentuangie - we are all different.
I take 2 grams every 4 hours - or as needed.
I have no experience with caps.
Someone else with more experience will probably respond.
Best,
T

In total agreement with Nan70 - purchase GOOD QUALITY KRATOM FROM A TRUSTED VENDOR!
You may also buy sampler packs from different vendors - that way, you do not have a major $$ expense and get to try many types and vendors. (I bought so many 1 ounce packs from so many different vendors that I have been able to keep two members of my family stocked!)
Something else - what did not work today just might work in the future.
It is a fun experiment!
We are all different - all vendors are different - and all kraters are different!
Here is to finding what works for you!
Best,
T

Hello! I started with capsule's and I found that they made the effects of Kratom lessen. I mix mine with OJ now and it tastes fine to me. But reds would definitely be the best for pain, and mixing a red with a green can help boost it plus counteract any sleepiness if you want it for day time.
Dark elephant from Kat's botanicals is one of my favorite reds. Red Ketapang and red Thai are also great and are a bit energetic. Red Bentuangie is good as a night time strain, or you can take a green or white mixed with it for some energy. Red MD and red Borneo are also good. I would try Kat's botanicals and even well botanicals. Canopy and Gaia are good too but they're having payment processing issues right now.

Coastline Kratom is one of those vendors that is linked to the "get to know Kratom" articles and web sites. I don't know if they have quality Kratom. They pay to have that link. I ordered my first Kratom capsules from Purkratom because of this. The quality was fine but they were priced too high. I have since switched to taking powder and I have 4 main Vendors I use that are approved Vendors from here.

Some questions what was your capsule dose? Assuming they were 500mg you would have to take 4 caps to get the suggested starting dose of 2 grams. One Level teaspoon is about 2 grams. Getting a scale I found depending on the vendor and the ground it could be 2 grams to almost 3. You also need to level the teaspoon off with a knife to get it anywhere near accurate dosing this way.

I also agree that if Kratom is not working to set the strain or vendor aside and get back to it later.
