I have found that I love to drink a sweet mint tea with 3/4 tsp of green Kratom twice daily.

However, it seems that this may be a misuse? Do I need to stop taking it for 3 days at a time?
I started to take it to alleviate menstrual fatigue and pain during that time of the month, but now I have come to love the tea so very much that it has become a twice daily event that I look forward to.
I feel it makes me a better person even!
More patient, more productive, less irritable and less lazy!
I never exceed 1 teaspoon( 4grams) and rarely exceed 3/4 tsp.

Is this misuse of Kratom? Am I becoming addicted?
I have read that I need to quit for 3 days at a time, and am currently on my 3rd day, but so looking forward to my tea!

I am drinking this tea as if it were coffee, but I prefer the effects of Kratom over coffee and like the flavor better too.

I look forward to your responses, I am concerned about addiction- but I’d rather have kratom than coffee, a socially acceptable addiction- but not nearly as wonderful.

Welcome Acardi

Same here, I feel it helps me with being a better person, lowers my pain level and boosts my mood, helps me with my anxiety!!

I think that doseing is very individual and should personally be assessed based on the reasons your using kratom and the benefits recieved. I would say compared to most that your dose and frequency would be considered prett low and very reasonable....sounds like your being responsible and respectful with his amazing leaf. Good job!!!

Breaks are good , though I very rarely take any days off, helps keep your tolerance from building and keeps the benefits strong . Building a good relationship with an herb is the way to go and that sounds exactly what you have with kratom.

An example of my dosing ..

3tsp 3-5 x a day , which is a lot more than you and others take, I could take less and over time still get the benefits i want, tolerance is a huge factor , and the hard labor I do for my job, I would be suffering in pain doing my work without kratom!!

Others will add to this great question , in my opinion your doing great , stay hydrated and absolutely a great idea to take days off from time to time, helps to keep thkngs fresh and to reset any tolerance.

I prefer kratom over coffee any day of the week,

Happy you found this great community and hope to hear more from you , Laurie and others will welcome you soon,

Take care

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Accardi!

I think we can all agree that safe and responsible use is up to you as an individual who is intimately more familiar with your use of substances.

The beauty of the leaf, in part, is how it can be a wonderful mood lift for one person and a complete lifesaving pain reliever for another - particularly if used with care, as you have described your use.

My understanding is, it takes a full 2 weeks to “reset” our receptors to completely begin anew with kratom. 3 days is someone else’s suggestion and sounds like good advice for keeping a low tolerance.

Any time you take a break will help increase your enjoyment of tea time!

We ALL have opinions here, so that’s 2 of MANY. You’ll like this crowd very much. Stay tuned for more replies!

That’s totally what I meant thx Laurie, pulled a stoner maneuver (though I haven’t had a safety (getting high) meeting in about a year B-) ), 3 days lowering tolerance not resetting it , :cheer:

all those years of copious cannabis use, I blame ...maybe I’ll revisit at some point , cannabis wise, but I’m on a long hiatus ,

kratom has lowered/ knocked out my previous love affair with ganja and with alcohol ... still have a drink on occasion, but instead of smoking and drinking everyday, no longer !!! I can thank kratom for keeping me in manageable pain levels and clear of mucho alcohol and smoke ... edibles sound good from time to time , no judgment here either way

Up with hope , down with the dope, unless your at a concert and jerry passes a doobie... wink wink

Forgive my humor ,

Accardi,

I follow the less-is-more approach to kratom. The less frequent I use, the better and more rewarding the results. Same goes for dosage amount. My very first kratom dose was around 1 tsp, then during those first months gradually increased to where I was taking one heaping tablespoon per dose 2 or 3x per day. At these higher doses I started developing headaches, over-sedation, and diminishing returns with respect to kratom’s effects that I originally grew to love and appreciate. My current dosing is one flat to one rounded tsp per dose, 1 to 3x/day. For reference sake I’m 5’9”, 158 lbs.

You’ll probably enjoy and get more out of your kratom experience the longer the breaks between dosages. That’s my experience anyway. A three-day break between dosages is great, and you’re kratom experience will be so much more effective and rewarding.

Last winter I took a kratom break before going on a 10-day vacation. I stopped cold turkey, and the withdrawal wasn’t fun; hours 24 to 48 were the most challenging, but I was in good shape by hour 72. Now, thanks to this forum, I’ve learned more sensible withdrawal strategies than just stopping cold turkey. Kratom withdrawal isn’t unique. Quit daily coffee, alcohol, nicotine, or cannabis habits cold turkey and see what happens.

I’m fascinated by your comment about preferring kratom effects over coffee. I combine the two on most days, then give coffee/caffeine a break on weekends when possible, but I’m going to experiment using kratom by itself. My concern is losing my sharp mental edge during the workday, but I’m giving it a go to see what happens.

Somethingsacredgoingonhere, my path seems identical to yours. I stopped daily cannabis use and heavy drinking almost immediately after my first kratom experience. My mind and body decided this was a better option. I’m so grateful for kratom.

The less is more equation is worth it’s weight, originally I started with 2 tsp 2-3 x a day, moved up to 3tsp or 1 Tbs 3-5 x a day. Tolerance factors in, for my case I’m dosing for pain relief benefits, with the lovely addition depression and anxiety management. If you begin to catch yourself taking more and more and getting the unwanted no beneficial effects, your taking to much ... whole heartedly agree Denver, good that you put your dosing in check and got yourself back to a sustainable and beneficial regimen.

Aside from not getting the level of moodlift I used to , the pain reduction is sill strong and my other symptoms still managed nicely.

The ideal is to use the least amount to get the relief you need ,

I’ve found that when taking a day off every so often akkuama is very helpful in managing my pain without kratom, it works !!

good form Accardi and Denver , good job , this herbal tool is the best I’ve found and deserves all the respect one can give

Side note ... it’s thunder and lightening outside at the moment , pouring rain , crazy storm here in Santa Cruz , can’t wipe the grin off my face :) can’t remember when we had this weather in May !!!

Have a great Sunday everyone (L)

Agreed on all points.

I merely want to add, Holy Cannoli, Batman! This storm is not typical for here! Glad you’re safe and smiling, Somethingsacred! We got skeered watching it from our beds!

DenverJeff, I think all of this crowd is similar. I’m back down to a tsp 2-3 times/day. It’s not easy keeping tolerance low. Nothing good in life is easy. I prefer kratom over coffee, but have recently regained a habit of coffee in the AM as part of my defense against a bad case of depression (the illness, not the mood).

Going to have some of both (not mixed together) to observe this storm before my Sunday meeting (recovery/12 step stuff).

Good day, good cheer and good discussion. Feel well, Laurie

Hi everyone,
I deeply appreciate this feedback; as the only other person I know who uses Kratom is the guy at the supplement shop where I buy it- who recommended the 3 days on / 3 days off.
I will say that I read some article about traditional use in Thailand where it is taken in combination with coffee and- oh wow, in my experience, it’s just wonderful.
I’ve been a serious yoga practitioner for 25 years and found the effects equivalent of 2 hours of solid yoga practice. So on the days when I can’t practice it brings me to a similar level of lucidity and open hearted good will toward life and humanity that I may not feel otherwise.
But my 3 days were not easy at all. I don’t know how long I had been taking it daily- and I don’t take large amounts- but I couldn’t sleep at night, ( anxious that I was having withdrawal
and thinking that maybe I shouldn’t take Kratom ever again- then dreaming about it when I finally did sleep!!!) the first days I was kinda achy and chilly ( all this is probably my own overactive anxious mind)
The insomnia may have been due to the full moon, and aches and chills maybe from the cold front we’re experiencing here- don’t know if this was Kratom withdrawal because of all these variables. But I get yoga withdrawal too!

Anyhow thanks for all your replies, it’s nice to connect with you- enjoy the storms, Santa Cruz.
Ciao

I would suggest to be very mindful and continue on that routine because we ALL respond differently to absence of leaf. That’s already on the edge and I would continue this practice (3 days on/3 days off) until it can be done more easily - like yoga stretches.

There are many substance we take everyday and take for granted. Two of us here have tea addictions. Meaning we have trouble stopping and we obsess about having it or not having it. For me its green tea. I always have it in my purse and I pack a box in my suitcase when I travel. I can easily not take Kratom but tea is physically and emotionally hard for me. Since I use it in my anti inflammatory diet I have no reason to stop green tea. Bad outcomes have been too much or too strong a brew has brought on severe nausea, not sure if there is a case for tea being bad for the kidneys. I used to drink a ton but have since lowered it to a normal range,

I feel the bad stigma attached to Kratom have let some feeling guilt or question use. I do understand some with dependency and addiction issues might have struggles with daily use(or not). I use Kratom 2 time a day except on weekends, I will only take a night dose. Kratom helps me with function so I can work I have to manage spinal arthritis. I dose low and I also do yoga, PT, and have herbs I take daily. When I get to Saturday I have no issues about wanting it that morning I have no desire to take Kratom. Any effects going longer without Kratom would be my normal crappy pain I am always plagued with it, I notice a runny nose and I know this is a withdrawal symptoms that is all I ever feel. Kratom helps reduce anxiety which was a plus side effect for me I feel people who have daily anxiety issues might have issues when not taking it. Anxiety is a tough little monster.
