werewolf,

Teas are fine but I still firmly believe you'll get the best results by just mixing it up in some OJ and gulping it down. No fuss, no muss...you get all the alkaloids that way. Just my opinion.

I have done a few extractions to make my own resin but didn't feel it was worth the time, effort and mess that came with it. I had decent results when I did it though. You can find different methods to do it by googling it. I did 2 lightly simmered water/vinegar/touch of lemon extractions with 2 ounces of Kratom (don't recall which varieties, one was a Red strain and the other was a white)in a stainless steel pot. I then lightly simmered off all the water in the oven, in a Pyrex casserole bowl. I believe I had about a 20 gram yield of a gooey resin. It was pretty powerful using 4 grams of it with about 10 grams of powdered leaf. I usually use about 18 - 20 of powder 2 or 3 times a day, for reference sake.

I'm 11 months in to my recovery from a hemorrhagic stroke, and still have no function in my right (dominant) hand, so it's not easy for me to make the extract. It took the better part of 3 hours or so for me to do it, including the clean-up. Like I said, it came out pretty good but the time and effort was a bit much for me though.

Hi, Neil - I've tried the k tea two days in a row now with zero effect. I slow boiled 10 grams of it ina cup of water and filtered it and then reboiled the leftover. One thing I forgot to do was boil it with lemon juice. Perhaps I just didn't drink enough of it, only aabout 1/3 of it each day - I still have a third left - but nothing, zero, zilch. Guess I'll go back to consuming it in powder form like you say. Why do you suggest mixing it with oj, just for the taste? I tried it with chocolate milk at first but I didn't care for that so much. I probably haven't been using enough yet because I'm afraid of getting g sick from it. I did get kind of nauseous once. I've just been using 4 grams lately, when i was swallowing the powder that is. Some people on that thread I linked thought that consumi g ground up indigestible leaf material might be bad for your digestive system. Any thoughts on
that? Too bad the tea doesn't seem to be effective as I much prefer drinking g it to swallow g the powder. The taste of the tea isn't bad to me at all.

Hi werewolf...I'm Chuck. Neil Young, who I quoted on another thread that you saw, is a singer/songwriter/guitarist 1966 - present. He is quite possibly the most relevant artist left-over from the heady days of the late - sixties and the nineteen seventies. That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Yes, I mainly mix it with OJ for the taste, although I will note that some folks swear by the fact that the acidity of the orange juice helps break down the "goodies" in the Kratom quicker/better. I'm not really sold on that theory, but if it does it sure as hell can't hurt, right?

Depending on what source/theory you believe about Kratom, some folks feel that you may lose some of the alkaloids when making a tea. Thus the reason for just consuming the powder...you don't lose any of them ingesting Kratom that way. Unlike Cannabis, there doesn't appear to be a need to heat up Kratom to release any of the "goodies" before consumption.

It would seem to me you may need to up your dose a little bit at a time until you find your "sweet spot". Do you currently use, or formerly use, decent amounts of opiates(?)...if you don't mind me asking? If so, there is definitely cross-tolerance between opies and Kratom. That is the reason I use such high doses of Kratom myself. I'm a recovering addict and current pain mmanagement/prescribed user of opiates. That makes a world of difference, my friend.

Keep experimenting with the Kratom werewolf, I'm sure you'll find what it is you need, it just may take a while to find what works best for you. Good luck!

Hi, Chuck, sorry I got your name wrong. No, no opiates here. And yes I'm going to slowly up the dosage again. I laid off the k for about a month because my stomach was sick from eating bad sushi. I'm over that now, but now I'm also getting back on lyrica to see if it can help my nerve pain a little. So I'm a bit reluctant to confuse the issue by starting k again at the same time. Maybe I'll try 5 grams in a day or two. I bought some pineapple juice today so I could try to mix it with that since I like it and it's supposed to be good for you. What do youthink of that? The poster Justcaws sent me a bunch of messages a while back. He was an advocate of taking turmeric just before the k. He said that it enhanced its effect. I forgot what else he said to take...need to reread his msgs....black pepper I think. Nice feller. I believe he moved over to the big k forum.

Kratom unique forms work as a pain reducer. Kratom Indo, Borneo and Bali strains have a great alkaloid such as mitragynine and 7-hydroximitragynine. Malaysian kratom strain is also very reliable in pain removal.

Hi werewolf,

Please, no need to apologize for the name mix-up...it's not a big deal at all. I've been called a lot worse

You should be able to start experimenting with your Kratom dosage while you resume your use of Lyrica. I myself have had no issues doing that very thing. I am taking an opiate cocktail consisting of oxycodone and morphine as well. I will note: I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV either  Just be careful and use common sense, and I'm sure you'll be fine combining both.

As for what Juscaws mentioned to you: turmeric and black pepper are possible potentiators of Kratom. Others include white grapefruit/juice, starfruit, tagamet (cimetidine), dxm and gabapentin. There is anecdotal evidence of this on the internet, which can be found by doing a simple google search. I've personally never felt much of a difference by taking any of these things before I take Kratom. My tolerance is ridiculously high, which may preclude me from being able to notice. Some synergistics with Kratom are: diphenhydramine, cannabis, benzodiazepines, alcohol and many more.

I do like reading Juscaws' posts here on this forum, and have noticed that he hasn't been too active here lately. I'm curious as to what the big K forum is? Actually, nevermind. We aren't supposed to discuss or promote other forum's here on ILK, but I do hope Juscaws is still hangin' around these parts and still plans on being an active part of this fine community going forward...

Pineapple juice too perhaps? That's what I washed it down with yesterday. And perhaps that might explain why the two times I got sick from K, last night and a couple of months ago, I took the K in combination with Lyrica, the first time, a couple of months ago, I took a Lyrica pill immediately after the K. Yesterday I had just gotten back on a small dose of Lyrica after laying off all pain drugs (except sometimes advil, tylenol) for a whole month, tho I had taken the Lyrica earlier in the day. And also yesterday I increased the k dosage. Lyrica is a refined form of Gabapentin. At least I got over being sick today. The first time it lasted two days.

Check your PM.

If you're referring to the India version of soma, I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. A quick search on the internet reveals that many soma users here in the US that have bought the pills from India say they don't even even seem to have any soma in them. More importantly, what are the "fillers" they put in those pills? Allegedly, some tests have shown that some dangerous compounds have been added to the pills. Although I'm no fan of the FDA, or any other Federal government agency for that matter, at least you can be rest assured that any medications sold here in he US have safe fillers and a real measured dose of the medication.

This is a forum for discussing Kratom and all of its beneficial properties. Why the posts pushing "pain-o-soma"? Surely there are other places that would be more appropriate for your posts...the I Love Kratom forum we're in here is NOT the place for them. I say this with all due respect. Thanks!
