Hi, I ordered quite a bit back in Sept. of 2016 and I was curious if anyone has experience in their kratom getting old, stale, less potent after a year's time? It's been stored in a dark place. Thanks!

If storing for a long period of time, it's very important that it's under vacuum
If it is under vacuum then there shouldn't be a problem

Allot of vender sites will say only months for obvious reasons but the communities and science says differently. Honestly take what venders say with a grain of salt. They are a business after all and there will be greedy ones and honest ones.

The consensus says 8-10 years if properly stored. Moisture is the main culprit, other than that it is extremely shelf stable.
I my self have a nice kratom chest in my freezer just like one would have a wine cellar. It is all dated by the month, year, strain and source. Like wine, each batch will have differences due to the season and weather. I myself am a collector, connoisseur and just encase of a famine hits; It's better to be prepared.

Here is a post done by someone who put some kratom to the test, even under extreme conditions, like on his furnace, hot, cold, hot, cold, and uncovered for 6 months. www.reddit.com/r/kratom/comments/52i6is/...s_of_kratom_samples/

My recommendation is in glass canning jars, in the freezer because plastic does breathe. The freezer slows down the speed of loosing electrons/molecular degradation. When taking out a jar let it sit at room temp for a couple hours before opening otherwise the ice cold kratom will absorb the moisture in the air and then you will enter the possibility of it molding. Over all moisture is what you don't want. Kratom is a pretty astounding plant. It is also good to have small 0z's so you can just take one out instead of opening a whole 1/2# jar to take a little out and throw a air filled jar back in.
