I have recently started to blend a few strains.I started this because when I took Red Sumatra, my normal dose, this was too relaxing for me even at night, but the pain relief was a 10.
I do use a scale when I do this to keep my dosing low and consistent. I mixed with with a Green or a less sedating Red. 50/50. I found the results better than expected.
I have been mixing different strains, two at a time and I am loving the results.

I have a few questions about mixing. I have not experienced any tolerance issues but I was wondering if mixing in the long run is positive against tolerance issues or negative? anyone have any experience with this or opinions about strain mixing.

Thanks

This is an opinion... based on deductive reasoning!

All Kratom contains mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. These are the main ones for pain relief. Red strains have more hence their ability to relieve pain. These are the main alkaloids that will lead to tolerance...it does not matter WHAT strain you are taking they all have these two alkaloids.

THE ONLY way that strain rotation can help with preventing tolerance is if you are rotating high mitragynine strains with low ones thereby not escalating the amount of mitragynine overall.

If we had better data on HOW MUCH mitragynine was in each strain we could do a better job of keeping the dose of mitragynine level, however, since we do not know how much is in each strain we can only go by the total dose of the powder. So as a way to manage tolerance, I would recommend keeping your total dose the same regardless of what strains you are blending.

BTW I have been doing the same today, 50/50 red and green and getting good results too!

Usually blending is Negative for Tolerance but Blending is where Kratom Shines the best. I would say don't Blend everyday. Take some days off where you just take one strain at a time. bomalley gave you some great advice. Keep your Dose the same.

When you say you have not experienced any tolerance issues are you saying that the SAME dose of Kratom now gives you the SAME effect as when you started?

I used to get a very slight rush (like my martini kicked it) when I started, but that went away fairly quickly with regular use.

Pain relief is not as good as it was before either.

On a positive note...When I started I got a lot of negative effects when I was titrating my dose. If I took too much I experienced wobbles, nausea, itchiness etc ... But those have disappeared too!

My sweet spot ended up as 4 - 4.5 Gms 4 times per day. If I had known more about managing tolerance I think I could have kept that lower but that is where I am and that is where I am staying.

These last few days I was not going to yoga practice so I though it would be perfect time to take a break and not use any Kratom for 4 days.... BUT my back would not let me. I still cannot eve get started on my day without pain relief provided by this wonderful plant.

Today Indo Maeng Da is going to help me with my 4K walk along our beautiful beach promenade.
Sunny, cold, and crisp weather, BUT beautiful scenery!

When you say you have not experienced any tolerance issues are you saying that the SAME dose of Kratom now gives you the SAME effect as when you started?

I dose 2 grams to 2.5 grams. Mosty 2 grams. One or two Kratom powders I have I felt were less strong and I inched those up slightly. I take Kratom mostly once a day. It would be hours after dinner and always chased with a strong cup of green tea. I don't know if worth mentioning but I am one of those people that get a "high" from green tea. Someone pointed out that I must be sensitive to the theanine in the tea. Also if I brew green tea too strong I will get nausea close to vomiting, which some have said of Kratom.

Twice a week I dose also in the morning just under 2 grams brewed in my green tea. I am trying to balance my pain management needs with using Kratom effectively.

The same dose of Kratom I am feeling the same effect. Only difference I noticed was Red Borneo took 30 minutes longer to kick in, but this was from a different vendor. Longer to be effective could be part of a tolerance issue, I am not sure. but effectiveness- mood lift, pain relief, rush for a bit, has been the same.

Pain relief has happened with every strain at the same dose so far.

I used to do cortisone injections 3 times a year for the last 8 years. This was to stay off Opioid medications. My use of oxycodone 5-325 was once a day averaging 4 days a week. My doctor actually recommended increasing my dose to a daily routine because my arthritis/back pain was effecting my quality of life. The few times I increased my opiod dose it created anxiety issues I couldn't deal with.

I am listening to everyone's advice on tolerance issues because Kratom has been very successful and it is my best choice in pain management.

My current routine I am rotating 6 reds from 4 different vendors. 3 Greens. 1 white.

I’m running about the same overall routine with the kratom mixing. Took 4 days off and no ill effects. No super “wow” when I went right back to my usual 2-4mg dose. A mix of red and green or one or the other alone.

There are an Infinite Number of Blends that you can make because there are so many dozens of different Strains & you can mix as many strains as you want & you can split the strains at any Number of Percentages like 50/50 or 70/30. Each Strain is going to be different as far as finding their Sweet Spot. So just remember to keep a Journal of each dose you take & write down the dose & the effects. Usually Maeng Da Strains are going to be some of the Most Potent so you should have to take as much as you would with other strains like you would with Borneo, Indo, Bali, Sumatra, Malay etc. Usually Elephant, Sumatra & Indo strains you will have to take more than your usual dosage. That's just what I've Learned over my 8 years. May not be True for each person.

Best thing to do is to Vary your Strains & Vendors. I would keep at least 3 different Vendors Kratom around & have at least half a dozen strains. Rotation is the key to keeping Tolerance under control. If you keep taking the same 2 or 3 strains over & over again then your body will get used to those particular strains & your Tolerance will go up quickly whereas if you keep more Strains in Rotation then much less chance of Building any kind of Tolerance because each Strain has different Alkaloid Profiles as well as different Effects. Always try not to raise any of your Doses over time because if you do then Tolerance happens.

With Kratom Less is Always More. If I find that I have been taking more than I usually do for each Dose then I start lowering each dose back down some. Then I find with Less Kratom it does actually work better. No other Herb like it on Earth. There are so many other Herbs you can mix with Kratom as well to Potentiate the Effects. Like Passion Flower, Valerian, Kava, Akuamma, Blue Lotus, Mulungu, Ashwagandha, Chamomile, Hawthorn & many more. Most Herbs will make Kratom more Relaxing but there are some that will enhance it's Energizing Properties as well like Caffeine, Guarana, Rhodiola Rosea, Yerba Mate, Ginseng, Schizandra Berry, Tongkat Ali etc.

The last few days a 50/50 blend of Green Horn and Super Green Borneo has kept me going through yoga practice and urban pole walking.

Definitely worth a try if you have them on hand.

I created a set rotation with the intent of sticking to it. The problem was that the strain set for the day often did not match my needs for that day. So I started changing things up a bit.

Now if I start the day with a strain that works REALLY well, or even a blend that works really well, I STICK WITH IT for a couple of days before switching to something else.

I am a firm believer in sticking with what works!

This whole scenario just reflects what all have been saying here and the most important thing I have learned so far which is:
Keep EXPERIMENTING to find what works best for you.
