Initially doing research on Kratom its sounded like a miracle drug to get me off this other crap. Tomorrow was my start date to begin kratom. Well tonight I found a bunch of video on Kratom withdraws that they are bad as opiates. I also found the quitting kratom reddit. In all seriousness guys I'm I just going to get cross addicted. No I am afraid to take Kratom. Any advice on taking it to WD and be able to also stop Kratom. I know no one can give dosage etc but maybe some personal experiences. Thank you

Hello PlumbKratom,

Don't believe any of those Videos about Kratom Withdrawals. I have never had any bad withdrawals from Kratom. Not nearly as bad as any Opioid or Benzo Withdrawals which were absolutely horrific. I would compare Kratom Withdrawals to a Caffeine Withdrawal. You might get a headache & some anxiety but that will pass in 2 - 3 days. They are not horrible Withdrawals but they are not Pleasant either. Kava is really good to take for Kratom Withdrawals.

There is a few things to take into account.
First there is the 8 factor analysis that clearly shows the low addiction potential.
The difference in numbers between r/kratom 33k+ and /rquitting kratom 3k+
On r/quittingkratom:
20% of the quitting kratom posts appear to be over blown drama. ( hey look at me it's everything elses fault but myself)
80% of people taking over a ounce a day (28-40grams), using extracts or had major opiat addiction before hand. Imagen drinking 4 pots of coffe a day vs the average 2 cups a day.
10% is refeer madness propaganda.
Same could be said for r/kratom, some will say it's the best thing since sliced bread and there is 0 side effects.
I could use perposed cannabis is addicting campaign as a prime example, most people smoke for a good while and just have no problem abstaining. Some get irritable for a day or two and few actually act like it's coming off a hard drug.
It is all going to boil down to two obvious main questions; do you have an addictive personality? Do you need kratom and prefer to use a far less addicting, less dangerous alternative or is recreational the focus?
I have gone days without it using 7-15 grams a day for weeks at a time and have only had the symptoms madmaxnightrider has had except my nose runs for the first 3 hours on the first couple days upon waking up. Slight physical dependence, yes, actual OMG I need kratom and my bank account is empty, time to go steal or give some sexual favors to get more is pure fantasy or the person has deeper issues than kratom.

Kratom is not thors hammer or the end all be all of supplements, It is a plant of use, not abuse.

Bottom line it is your choice and it is also good to be doing your research and weigh the potential benefits and side effects.

We all recognize your anxiety because we all started there. The more experience you have with Kratom the more confident you become.

I had quite a lot of anxiety when I served myself up a dose from a bag that was labelled "not for human consumption" BUT I was more anxious about staying on the opioid!

So let me ask you these question ...

How anxious were you when your doctor prescribed medication? Have you seen the handouts from the pharmacy listing ALL the side effects and complications that can arise from opioids? And yet you took the prescription anyway.

I bet the information provided by the pharmacist even included this warning:

"You can become addicted to this medication. Only use it as your doctor has prescribed."

AND yet you took it anyway.

***ASIDE***
I live in Canada and Pharmacies are REQUIRED to deliver written information about side effects, complications and precautions for any medication they dispense.

Also assuming you are on prescription "crap". If you are NOT on prescription "crap", you KNEW when you started using narcotics that they were addictive. BUT YOU USED IT ANYWAY.

*****

Point being that your anxiety is NOT uncommon, it is there simply because you do not know what you are doing. FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.

That is why we are here ...to help you calm down. Because we have been there too and we have more experience, so our anxiety level is lower MUCH lower than yours. (although from time to time mine goes up as evidenced by some of my posts here!)

So you simply have to ask yourself this question....

Are you more anxious about taking Kratom, or continuing with the "crap" you are currently taking?

Are you more anxious about taking Kratom or continuing with the symptoms you are experiencing?

For all of us on this forum, the answer to those question were clear and we made our choice. I am SO GLAD I made the choice to go with Kratom. Opiates were causing all kinds of trouble in my body...some I did not even know about like screwing up my hormones. Kratom does none of that.

BUT a successful transition to Kratom does require that it be used in an educated and responsible manner. A good place to start is with the 8 factor analysis roadie referred to.

Another favourite place of mine for information is this video:

I will give you a chance to become more educated and think about the questions I have posed. Then I will pop back into the forum to help some more.

Soon you will be an educated and responsible user as well.

Thank you all for the responses. To answer the questions shortly I am more worried about the crap. Today is the first time in 4 years I haven’t woken up and taken the crap. I woke up made coffee smoked my cig and made 3g of red Ben I felt fine. About 3-4 hours later I started yawning and got watery eyes. I started to heavily think about just taking some crap. So I dissed again with Kratom. 3g red maeng. So far I feel fine. No WD at all. So I don’t know if it’s still to early for the real WD symptoms to kick in. Last crap was at 9pm last night. I never tapered quit from full dose. 200+ mg. So far I have something to look forward too. I don’t feel amazing yet but I don’t feel bad.

Well then...you journey has started!

Kratom is NOT a panacea...you still have to want to do this. It may still be unpleasant but Kratom can help immensely to make it tolerable. Sort of unbelievable isn't it?

You are on a hefty dose of crap. That is a unbelievably high dose if it is oxy. Cannot believe your physician allowed you to get there...BUT this is not the time for judgments, it is the time for support.

You are doing the right thing. Wait for the withdrawals to start...this means that your receptors have emptied out then take something to bind to them...if you DO take the crap take a much lower dose and see if it works. However, at such a high dose it might not be reasonable to expect to come off the crap all at one go.

Right now you are at 3 gms....leave it there and see how things go. As the crap leaves your system you may want to increase it. It really is a big experiment.

Every 4 hours sounds about right.

so glad you have made your choice!

Keep going and do the best you can.

No doctors involved just a very taxed bank account. 10mg V or Ox whatever was available.

Today is a rough day. It started off so well. I even listened to music in the shower and I felt great until about 20 hours in. Couldn’t stop moving around and began to have a break down. Wife does not know and is wondering why I’m all of a sudden acting different. We have tons of plans today so unfortunately I messed up and took 2. I feel awful. But I know Kratom helped me get as far as it did. Maybe I need a higher dose. And I need to tell my wife I can’t do this alone. I’ve never told her because I’m afraid to break her heart, but I know being a addict will end up killing me and putting her worse off so I just have to come clean. I failed today, but my mission is not over. Been 3 years since I’ve only taken 2 v all day. I know I can do this with a little support and better timing and some adjustments to Kratom intake. Now I must ask for help. I appreciate all of you taking the time and promise I will keep you posted if you’re interested. This site and Kratom is a blessing and everything will line up so I can kick this evil pharmaceutical. Thanks again and I will dig deeper on this site for more tips. I am not going back to using like I was. Or even using tomorrow I am done. I haven’t cried this much since my Grandmother died years ago. Man this isn’t easy

No it is not easy...BUT it does get easier with time.

this journey is not lineal. There will be ups and downs. Please do not let the downs feel like failure...IT IS PART OF THE JOURNEY!

You have done very well do far....keep going! Remember...you did not get here overnight...you will not get out of this overnight either!

Even if you can get your use down to half of what it was, that is enormous pregress!

Try not to beat yourself up too much! None of us decided, “Hmmm, I think I’ll be an addict!” It isn’t a moral character flaw. In my case, it’s just a simple matter of better science since my alcoholic tendencies of birth discovered pain pills are much more helpful. For a good long while. Your journey will be tough, kratom or no. Kratom can REALLY help if you’re dedicated to the process. Staying on it after you’ve gotten clean is not where you should be focused. Cross that bridge when you get there. If you use the tool of kratom, it’s no less an effort to change your life. Good luck either way and just try to relax and ride out the hoopla of the holiday safely. Cheers!
