Hi everyone,

I have a question that I could not find the answer to on here, and it is one that I would rather have answerd by the experienced people on this forum rather than randos on the interweb.

So, I used kratom pretty irresponsibly for like a week (basically just large doses, which I will not be doing again), and it gave me some pretty severe constipation, which I think led to some rather significant GI issues. I am thinking that I may need to go to the Dr. if this persists much longer.

My question is, what adverse things could happen if I disclose to my Dr that I used Kratom? I know that there would be no legal consequences, both because it is legal in my state and because they cannot report illegal substance use. My concern is that it could somehow affect my insurance and/or get on my record in some way that would be discoverable by the BAR association when I graduate law school (as they do a thorough background check). I do not think that this information would prevent me from getting my license, but the fact that its legality is in limbo, unpredictable, and that it is sometimes described as a "nootropic," makes it a risk that I would just rather not take.

Thanks in advance!

Good question. My therapist knows. She suggested I tell my dr. I tried a SAMPLE of this question by telling her I use kanna regularly. She made a note. Asked what it is, then ignored it. Said they have an herbalist on staff, but she’s on maternity leave.

My conclusion: they aren’t ready if they don’t know what it is.

Our healthcare is now on electronic file. Obviously not protected by the oath Dr’s take. They put EVERYTHING on the electronic files now. I personally do not trust the system. I trust my dr, wish I could feel comfortable telling her, but NOBODY KNOWS the long term affects of having health records kept into infinity via electronic file yet!
I’m erring on the side of extreme paranoia. I don’t want to be turned away for a health condition I’m treating on my own to become an EXISTING HEALTH CONDITION NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE because I didn’t know YET what my electronic file might do to my future.

Urumqi14, have you read everything here on the digestive issues that go hand in hand with kratom use?
BoMalley knows exactly which thread you should read on the topic. There is a lot we must do to process the leaf safely and comfortably. I hope you’ve got some SMOOTH MOVE TEA or some prune juice on hand?

Urumqi14, I agree with Laurie 100% .

For "Who can request my medical records for background checks", etc.

www.medicalrecords.com/get-medical-records/who-can-request

YOU MUST ADD: https:// before this address. "ilovekratom" website keeps dropping it.

When I try to edit to correct it, my message is rejected as spam. Not sure why.

Be sure to scroll all the way down on page above for full info.

Good luck & Hope you feel better soon. :)

Laurie, I don't think you're being paranoid. Any system can be hacked. Even the U.S. Dept of Defense has been hacked.

Recently, someone on Reddit disclosed that "screenshots of posts are being taken by outside parties.
In light of that, here's a few things I did on my "ilovekratom" profile and others:
- used an email account that doesn't contain my real name.
- deleted my last name and my location
- deleted all private messages

Make sure you have good anti-virus, anti-malware software on your computer. I use Norton. I delete cookies and my search history daily.
Bottom line, if someone wants your info, they can get it. Your I.P. address (the computer you're working from) is easily available, unless you're working from a private window.

See this website for some ideas to protect your privacy:
techland.time.com/2013/07/24/11-simple-w...rotect-your-privacy/ This "ilovekratom" website may drop the the http:// part of this address. If that happens, be sure to add it back to the front of the website address.

Anything you've ever typed on the internet whether deleted, or not, exists.
See this website to make sure that what you delete stays deleted, and cannot be recovered by others. askleo.com/secure-delete-work/ Again if this "lovekratom" website deletes it, make sure to add https:// back before askleo.com

The Internet, like any other tool, an be used for good or used for evil. In this day and age, privacy is a major concern around the world due to the number of tracking satellites that have been launched by governments and other parties. That's why people use "burner" phones and "burner" laptops for questionable activities.

This "ilovekratom" website may be administered by volunteers. I don't know what security (or levels of security) exist on this system. I think it's safe to assume it's the minimum. P.S.

HTTP stands for "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol", the primary technology on the Web that allows linking and browsing.
HTTPS is "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol" with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), technology for secure, safe Internet transactions in mind. SSL is a secure encryption.

Thank you, Donut! Now I don’t need a psychiatric evaluation for my unfounded paranoia of unscrupulous hackers.

Laurie, You're more than fine.

And remember, if ever you forget to back up your computer, you can always call the NSA. :-)

For information on handling constipation search this forum for "digestive issues"

Really good info there on that thread .

YES Kratom is constipating but you should be able to handle that yourself without the bother of going to a physician. Too bad you did not know more about that when you started.

If you have to say something just say "Ihave been using some herbs and I think they made me constipated"

If he/she asks what kid of herbs you are taking use the botanical name Mitargyna Speciosa Not Kratom and that is more of a street name.

I still think the best defense against hacking is just to have an ABSOLUTELY boring life like me...nothing interesting about what I do!
