Re: "Who can access my medical records for background checks", etc.

www.medicalrecords.com/get-medical-records/who-can-request

YOU MUST ADD https:// before this address. "ilovekratom" website keeps dropping it.

When I try to edit to correct it, my message is rejected as spam. Not sure why.

Be sure to scroll all the way down on page above for full info.

Link doesn’t work here, either.

I’m paranoid. Hopefully others will answer the question with less paranoia.

I don’t trust the system. It’s constantly being accessed by hackers.

Laurie, You need to add the "s" in the address......type https:// before www.

Sorry I misspelled your name on previous message. I have a good friend named Lori.

Hope your day is a good one. :-)

And...your link includes the “s”. It goes to the “comments” section. There’s a comment in there that is similar in thought to my paranoia (I’m not responsible for the comment or the spelling in the comment:)

“Hi there dose anyone know how to handle this.

I went to the medical center for an appointment and was put into a room where there is a computer was on and some other person medical records were on the screen. I found this disturbing and so i called UCI and asked how the internal patient medical record information is handled. I was told any person with in the UCI system or outside the system that had been vetted have uninterrupted access to all medical records. This includes third parties so I requested to lock down my medical information and limit the exchange of with in there system According to HIPPA I needed to give them written permission for any one to access my recorded. As of know they have not been able to do this. This means that Dr., RN, LVN, office staff, students at all levels, fellowships from all over the world and meany others have access I don't think this is right. I will update as new info comes in.”

I don't know what the UCI refers to. Privacy seems to be an illusion. I'd like to lock down my medical records too.
I often check the FaceBook page "Privacy Rights Clearinghouse" for info. I just sent them a message to ask
this question.

Very good website on all privacy issues is: www.privacyrights.org//learn

Remember to add https:// before www if this "ilovekratom" website cuts it off.

All medical professionals who have access to your file are required by law, and by professional ethical standards to keep that information private.

Another patient's computerized file should NOT have been opened for you to view from the computer screen.

The medical staff always change the file showing on the screen to my file whenever they show me into the exam room....somebody forgot to change this over.

Yes, Donut, exactly. Privacy is an ILLUSION. Indeed.

Hi Donut and Laurie,
Laurie, as far as I know, not just anybody can look at your medical record, what I mean is, that just because that person happens to be, say a doc and in the area of your record, they aren't supposed to even take a peek!! I'm an RN, I worked many years at Children's Hospital L.A. We, the nurses were told under no uncertain terms were we to look at other patient's charts, this was even if we had taken care of them before. Now was this the hospital's policy or HIPPA. I'm not sure, but I think it's a HIPPA thing. I think that the only people that may look at the record are those involved in the care of that person. It would be great to do a little research on this subject :)

I looked up from this post to see an article on tonite’s local news channels’ coverage of CBS News where they were discussing a flaw on Intel products that opens its products to hackers and will take five years to correct. I came in on the tail end of that...

Healthcare workers are NOT my concern. Corruption? You betcha. We would not be in this fight for kratom legality if “the system” had any sense. Health care workers would probably welcome learning more about how patients are taking back the power over their own health! Health care workers are not the “future” corruption I envision in my conspiracy nightmares - LOL
