About a year ago I was diagnosed with low thyroid. At the time, I didn't think much of it. The doctor gave me a pill and I thought I'd be fine. I also agreed to try and lose some excess weight I put on. After about a month of exercise and dieting, I had barely lost any weight. It frustrated me.......because in the past I've always been able to lose weight with a consistent regimen.

This time, though, I lost interest.....and just said "screw it." I didn't really have the energy or desire to workout, anyway. Especially if i wasn't going to see results.

About 3 months later I found Kratom................

A couple of weeks ago - my yearly physical - doctor is increasing my thyroid med because it's low again.

I told him I was on kratom (at my wife's insistence) and he said "Fine. Western medicine has been around a lot longer than Eastern medicine. Just make sure you separate it from taking your thyroid med." Done deal.

But now i'm realizing that the reason I've been "needing" Kratom is because of the fatigue and anxiety my thyroid problem is giving me. It's all starting to make sense now.........

Thank God!

So glad you have found out the potential source for low energy, weight gain etc

I also take thyroid hormone and doc had a lot of difficulty getting my hormone levels to the desireable range (too low). Everyte the medicqtion was increased I suffered with side effects.

It was not until another doc added dessicated thyroid into the mix that things got better.

You can find a lot of thyroid support groups online as well and I found really good info on some of them. BUT just like Kratom, it requires some experimenting and individual variation. You AND your doc have to be willing to go there.

Nutrition suport is also essential for improving thyroid function AND energy. A diet with refined carbohydrates and processed food will not help ( who knew?).

My salvation came with the Blood type diet - but you may find another way to find superlative nutrition for your body. Searching on "Blood type diet" will give you lots of info about that too. Generally a diet very high in fruits and leafy greens and other vegetables and low in grains with good quality protein seems to be the best for supporting thyroid function.
