I have begun weening, I really don't want the trip to be miserable. I plan to order some of the substitutes suggested. Absolute worst case scenario, I was considering getting a prescription for some sort of opiate or perhaps even suboxone, that I could legally transport with me.

I wouldn't go the opiate or suboxone route. That seems like it would be taking one step forward and two steps back and it may be a slippery slope if you go that route. You shouldn't have a problem weaning of kratom as you have only been taking it for three months.

abberant,

sorry not trying to pry but what are the primary reasons for taking k? all of the lovely people here have helped introduce me to many beneficial herbs, which most are completely legal from what I know everywhere. Chinese skullcap and corydalis have helped me greatly for pain relief, anxiety and sleep. ive found with corydalis if I take it in smaller doses I don't get sleepy. gaba and other mood enhancers help too. but yes laurie, madmax and nan know way more than I do bout this but the effect youre looking for helps narrow it down.

If you know they're very harsh on kratom, I wouldn't be bringing any herbs besides the most common, labeled, easily identified herbs, such as corydalis, Turmeric, etc.

Definitely don't bring any kratom! Wean off and quit kratom shouldn't be hard unless you're recently off opioids.

Belarus sounds like a fun place to visit... NOT! Taking up drinking isn't a good substitute, but -- in moderation -- it might take the edge off.

Good luck. Remember what Nietsche said, "That which does not kill me, makes me stronger!"
