I am advised to wean myself off all my prescribed painkillers. I am off all codein and now down to 75 mg tramadol. I have read that it is ok to take kratom and tramadol BUT not together.... at the same time. However if my goal is to eliminate all painkillers to see if my headaches are medicine overuse headaches. MOH am I defeating the purpose if I take kratom to ease the withdrawal? Can kratom cause MOH? Or, can I take it to ease the withdrawal off tramadol and then get off kratom easily after that. I am in agony now

Hi Jerry. As to the above, nobody can predict MOH will occur or not occur from kratom. It is subjective and unique to each and every user.
Since you are prone to have that issue, consider it as WE DON’T KNOW as to MOH. The benefits of kratom will be a wonderful tool for you. Yes, I would recommend you try this (to your last question) and then kratom IS much easier to wean off IF INCLINED. Not so much for some. But much better than a pharmaceutical.

So glad it’s helping you!
Laurie

Jerry,
I have had what I think is called a "kratom hangover" type headache if I take to much, usually of a red strain.
This has only happened during my trial and error times in the beginning of starting to take kratom when I was trying to find the "sweet spot".

I found that many of the reds I have tried will give me a headache that is similar to a hangover from alcohol. This has occurred for me even at just 1g of many of the reds. Red Fibro especially, which is a mix of several different reds and is used by many here for pain. Red Kx is another that causes headaches for me if I take more than 1g.

If I take a red now it is just 500mg to 1g to help me sleep. Red borneo is one that I can do this with and not get a headache.
I have also recently found that I can mix the Red Fibro with White MD at a 1/3 to 2/3 ratio and this works for removing my headaches without getting jittery from the white MD by itself.

It can be a lot of trial and error but it is definitely worth it. :-bd

I took 50 mg of tramadol when I woke up 3gm of green kratom at noon(yuck) and 25mg tramadol at supper time. I am hoping there is a way to taper off tramadol AND take kratom.

This is spacing the doses out. Taking together- I was referring to at the same time. As long as you are vigilant in keeping the doses spaced at intervals.

Its confusing especially when you are suffering from headaches

Nan70 is a true blessing here - Thanks Nan70!

Jerry, 3 grams is quite a hefty dose size. You might enjoy kratom more at 2. Just my .02 cents!

Progress!

For me, caffeine (morning coffee), then kratom later in the day, often causes low-level dull headaches in the evening once the kratom wears off. Doesn't happen on non-caffeine consuming days. Headache goes away if I dose a pain-relieving strain later that evening. I've read accounts of people no longer drinking coffee once they start using kratom regularly. Seems to be the case for me, too. I seldom drink caffeinated coffee anymore.

Differs from person to person, but reds seem to be popular for pain relief. For me it's reds and yellows. That said, Re-Leaf has a product (blend) called "The Pain" that offers extraordinary pain relief for me. I'm taking some in about an hour to relieve muscle pain from my workout earlier this evening.

DenverJeff,
I also noticed that I will get a headache in the afternoon if I drink to much coffee while taking kratom. (Which I actually take to get rid of chronic headaches and works great) :cheer:

I no longer drink coffee in the afternoon now. Only in the morning just after my morning dose or I put my morning dose in with the coffee. :-bd
