Victor,
My 10 year old granddaughter has been like that since she was 7 or 8.
She is praised by her teachers in school for her kindness and manners but is a lunatic at home. :woohoo:
My son-in-law took the door off her bedroom because if her younger sister teased her or she didn't get her way she would constantly storm off, muttering, and go to her bedroom and slam the door.

When I'm there I will go up to her room, after a few minutes, listen to her complaints, hug her, and after she vents, all is ok with the world again. But then again she has me wrapped around her finger and it makes me sad to see her that way.
My Grandkids say I’m a cuckoo head. ;)

I have said this before and I will repeat it here...

ALL children want is to know that when they walk in the room your life has been made better.

IF you can let your children know that, by your words, deeds, and actions then, then ANY parenting style will work.

BTW...I do not mean to brag (but of course I will) but I found the teen years to be quite easy. It wasn't until all hell broke loose in their twenties that things got tougher. AND that age is much more difficult because they actually ARE adults and you have much less control PLUS...they can LEGALLY engage in much riskier behaviour.

During those years I held a few heads over the toilet bowl - and waited nervously in the morning for them to come home after being out ALL night, but lucky for me they learned their lessons very quickly.

im am the total free range parent...not as they call helicopter parents now......i have a saying the only rules in our house are....
Healthy, Happy, Safe, Helpful, and Talk About IT.....(if theres a problem) . the only punishment i deal out is Talking About IT.....i dont remove privlages or threaten in any way....I live by quotes and saying from Socrates Confucious Mark Twain Will Rogers . Yogi Berra, etc etc,... and now great meme's i see on parenting sites......i dont see how to attach photos to these . posts....
But theere was a great one a little while ago it was something like or about ..."its not our job to toughen up our kids to face a cruel and heartless world . ....its our job to raise our children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless......

Too bad you didn’t have ALL THE KIDS!

Your children will undoubtedly be special adults someday!
