Hi everyone,
Just curious, how many others are on the Keto diet and using Kratom? I used to be able to lose weight rapidly on this diet but now that I am using Kratom (7g 2x/day) I'm finding I can't shed the weight so easy. Anyone else have that trouble or is it just me. I may be doing something else wrong that's causing little weight loss. I follow my Macro nutrients regularly so I get just right number of fat, carbs and protein.

I was under the impression K would be 85% plant fiber so it wouldn't count but maybe I'm wrong. So I only counted 1 to 2 carbs per dose...

Let me know if others are on Keto as well and how that's going for you.

Hey there! I did a Keto diet for quite some time along with Kratom. I didn't notice any negative results due to the Kratom, but the Keto did make my hair fall out some. Plus, it just didn't work well with my lifestyle. I was going off and on keto and from what I've read, it's not good to do that. Should either be all the time or not at all. Could you just be hitting that plateau? I could never find any consistent info regarding the carb count in Kratom either. Good luck though! Hope you find what works for you :-h

The Keto diet is famous for plateaus and sticking points. The less fat you have, the less likely it becomes your body will burn it for fuel.

And then that's when your body gets extra clever at Gluconeogenesis.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconeogenesis

Yadda, yadda, yadda, you really need to watch your protein intake, and keep the portion size down as well. Try not to exceed 30 grams of protein per meal, and 20 grams is even better if you're really sticking.

The fat from dairy also starts getting more easily converted as part of Gluconeogenesis.

The youtube guru on this, stephanie Keto person, is big into bone broth, fwiw. She has hundreds of videos, and is becoming pretty famous.

Very cool info, Babel-17! As usual. I’m using more of the Atkins diet only I’m eating bananas because my potassium is low - probably from using magnesium citrate to keep regular while using kratom. I’m switching to castor oil. I’ll bet you have more helpful suggestions on that topic as well!

Mixing the oil with kratom was just too gross, but I take them at the same time but separately after turmeric.

You can tell you are in ketosis if you start smelling bad. Excess sweat has more potent smell if you are skipping all carbs. More frequent showers are necessary while in ketosis.

That’s the only thing I know about “keto”.

Okay now I don't feel so defeated that my clinical strength deodorant/antiperspirant has failed me. Now that I am using coconut oil I am probably going through some amount of ketosis on days I limit my carbs. (not necessary on the keto diet just dipping my toes in that pool) I am an excess sweater normally but it usually has no smell, until lately.

I went ahead a bought a different brand of deodorant but I might not need the Chernobyl strength just yet.

The Atkins diet is about getting you into Ketosis for the induction phase. When someone becomes an Atkins Jedi master they will be at their ideal weight, and will experience smoothly shifting into and out of ketosis, even during the same day (the maintenance phase). IIRC. Stephanie Keto Person is super strict, and is all about burning ketones all the time. She hates the idea of getting out of ketosis.

The Atkins smell, the fruity breath, should mostly go away after a while if being strict on the diet as your body produces other waste products after induction, though you can still get that Atkins breath when you briefly get deeper into ketosis. That can be neat, but it's also a sign that you're getting close to also burning lean body mass.

The smelly breath, and sweat, goes away for the same reason that the keto sticks can become ineffective after being strict on the diet for several months. You can still turn the sticks pink/purple, but that is only going to happen when you're burning fat at an exceptionally high rate. Maybe in the morning after a health dump of growth hormone from a good night's sleep, in addition to not eating for ten-twelve hours or so, and having a small high fat zero carb meal as your last food of the previous day.

I buy potassium in bulk, and mix it with my "sea salt" from that mine in Utah. I've mixed it with my beverages but you have to be careful with it as it can irritate the stomach. For that reason I avoid tossing and washing it, and I suppose it could even give the heart a seizure if taken in excess.

P.S. Castor oil as a laxative can be iffy. Keep that to a once in a while proposition. Though it's supposed to be great for thickening eyebrows, and hair growth. Some people swear by its varied topical uses, like bumps/lipoma.

Can I bug you for a link for potassium please?

Thanks for the nifty home remedies I never would have known.

I agree with you that the stink is more reliable than the test strips, but they make urinating fun and interesting! Ha!

Bulk Supplements is what I use, and since I have Amazon Prime it's cheaper for me to buy it there. 20 bucks a kilo without subscribe and save, 18 bucks with.

smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ENSA93S

The salt I use: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R5PKD0

I have a salt shaker from my first purchase from them that I keep reusing. I just have to take its lid apart once in a while as it gums up with caked salt, due to moisture.

Edit: P.S. Straight up potassium will irritate your mouth and throat, and it can cause stomach upset if taken in excess and/or not diluted to a large degree. Adjust to taste in a beverage. Barely noticeable/not noticeable is what I would go for. Now I just use it in my salt shaker. I go 50/50 with the salt, which isn't scientific, but my body should balance things out. It's the severe lack of either that's a problem, afaik.

Thanks so much! Castor oil is a pretty good plumbing tool SO FAR. I didn’t think it would be, either!

Your suggestions and experiences are so incredibly helpful and appreciated, Babel-17!
