I’ve only made extracted “resin” and tincture. My plan was to dry the resin and grind it but I found it wouldn’t completely dissolve in water so I opted to keep it in resin form and consume it like a lozenge or candy. The citric acid from the lemon juice really makes me salivate and isn’t that bad it’s almost like a kratom candy.

The one way to grind to a fine powder I’ve seen mentioned in various techs is to use an electric coffee grinder, like the kind used to grind whole coffee beans. Some people complain of powder being stuck to the housing and parts but considering the amount your extracting it shouldn’t be an issue. Going that route would save a lot of time/effort vs. a leaf grinder.

Yeah I was wanting to buy a electric coffee grinder, but I don't want to waste. I just figured they had better weed grinders. I gave up at the end and just smashed the rest with a spoon. Now I'm hoping the batch in the oven will produce at least 50 grams.

Hi Laurie thanks for the warm welcome:) you and Nan really help hold this place together, Makes it really feel like a community. I was going to respond before but my demanding little Bengal needed attention (she likes me to brush her while she runs on her cat wheel).

Oh and frogs I forgot to mention how good your extract looks, it has some nice color to it. I've been meaning to do separate comparisons of water vs. alcohol extract. Apparently the water extract is supposed to contain more of the mood lifting alkaloids while the alcohol extract is supposed to have more of the sedating ones. That nice brown colored powder from your first attempt has rekindled my interest.

Thank you so much. Can I use This?
I had three pans cooking and separated them in different bags. One is pitch black, it doesn't smell burnt and it has my crystals, the other two are blackish brown and they're all flaky. I had no resistance whatsoever getting it out and crumbling it up. Did I destroy my extract?

I remeber seeing black diamond extract everywhere and they're just selling burnt kratom lok

Enjoy but you better have LOTS of plain powder or stem n vein or both ON HAND. Just in CASE you have tolerance issues later.

I’m SO GLAD to hear you smiled. No joke. I know the feeling. I now have the dreaded permanent upside down frown wrinkles from e-smoking too long.

So I look unhappy UNLESS I’M SMILING. Don’t get old.

I ended up with chunky flakes similar to what you have in the round dish there. Crystals usually only form from a single substance under certain conditions, kratom has at least two other major alkaloids that could interfere with mitragynine crystallization. www.christophersorganicbotanicals.com/Kr...-alkaloids-s/115.htm
Not to mention other compounds that would or could prevent crystal formation. There are certain more complicated techs that talk of washing and separating the mitragynine by using stepped processes of washing with vinegar (I think) and somehow getting the mitragynine to precipitate out of solution but I’m not a chemist.
I think the dark black color is simply concentrated chlorophyll. The only way to be sure if your extract is good is to simply try some. Other than that it looks good to me congrats!

It looks really good! I hope you have no pain to test it on! Because I care. Definitely looks like the right stuff. Make sure you don’t waste it by taking it at bedtime or something tempting like that.

EDIT: thanks for sharing this on the forum. Very cool
WTG!

No I just need a extra peep in my step.
When I do take it it's not more the 2 grams a day. I stayed up for 48 hours making extract and I will never do that again. The process takes wayyy too long

How would I do the 20x 30x 10x thing. If I started with 300 grams and got 55 grams of extract no waste

The kratom leaf has numerous other compounds aside from the desired alkaloids. These compounds are extracted along with the alkaloids in basic water/ethanol extractions. In order to improve the alkaloid concentration you would have to remove these compounds from the crude extract through additional processes. I am not very familiar with chemistry and I don’t feel comfortable handling ethyl acetate or chloroform. I found this link explaining the process

patents.google.com/patent/CN102048857B/en

The extract you have now is roughly 6x and I really don’t think the cost/risk of trying to concentrate it further is worth it. Refining kratom extract to a purified form seems much more complicated than anything I would want to attempt. Someone with a background in chemistry might see this as a relatively basic exercise but I don’t and it’s all Greek to me.
