Hello all,

I am seeking opinions on what might be an effective strain to relieve nerve pain. I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at the end of last summer, and I am dealing with what will likely be a lifelong struggle: central poststroke pain syndrome (CPSP). I have right-side paralysis and some numbness of the left extremities. My upper right arm constantly feels as if I have a blood pressure cuff on and blown up, but unfortunately without relieving the pressure. I get extreme burning sensations in my right hand and foot, that are fairly persistent and seem to occur more intensely as I try to sleep. My left foot likes to join the party occasionally with a sharp, stabbing pain that makes me want to jump out of my skin. I am slowly improving, and getting some movement and feeling back. Despite the high level of pain at least I'm feeling something! Slow progress is still progress!

I have been experimenting with our beloved Kratom for several months now. I am just getting myself in tune with timing and proper dosages, but just can't seem to find the right strain, or combination of them, to relieve the pain enough to manage without narcotic pain medications. Getting off the oxycodone and morphine I am prescribed is an important goal of mine for several reasons, not the least of which is that I am a recovering opiate addict with almost 3 years of sobriety under my belt. At the level of pain I'm in, coupled with life's stresses, staying sober has been a daily battle for me! I'm proud of the fact I've stayed on the right path, but sometimes I feel like I'm one big stressful moment away from giving in to my demon's and running into the ditch.

Among other things, my goal with Kratom is to find enough relief from the previously mentioned nerve pain and get off the narcotic drugs entirely. That certainly won't be an easy task to pull off, but it is one that is all too necessary given my previous history. So in my usual long winded manner I am asking for advice my friends: any experience and/or ideas on what may be a good strain, or quite possibly, a combination thereof, that might help me achieve my long term objectives? Thus far I've had the best results with powdered red vein Kratom, mixed in OJ and guzzled on an empty stomach. And besides Kratom, are any other herbs (other than MJ, I had to give that habit up several years ago...see a trend here ) that in combo with K might help me? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

I'm proud of you for making the decision and steps to get clean. For nerve/muscle pain you can try some Chinese cats claw or black seed oil. You can try any of these also:

While I am not here to treat diagnose or give medical advice as I am not a medical professional I can tell you from my experiences I have severe nerve damage and pain all of the time. I was even in the ER last night because of it. But what I normally do is use our Borneo white vein Kratom as well as some kava extract and it seems to do just the trick for me. I suffer daily from nerve pain from one side of the body to the other. And this works wonders.

Thanks for the sharing your experience with me Kyle, I appreciate it! I've never used kava extract before and I have only tried white vein a few times...it seemed to get me a little "wound up" too much. I've read that kava is relaxing, so I'm guessing that might offset my jumpiness a bit if I do this combo?
