Greetings Everyone,
It has been awhile since I visited. I have taking oxycodone for pain, I have not found any kratom that worked for me. My neighbor recently took a job at a local marijuana store. I vaped one toke last night. it was like strong pot from the 70s. Tonight I tried a pill of 5 mg of marijuania tonight. The pill was similar to oxycodone. If I had to quit oxycodone, I think these pills might due the trick.
Best,
Jim

I think it depends on the mj strain. I believe strains with higher CBD content are better for pain relief. Here are the best strains for pain relief: www.leafly.com/news/strains-products/bes...ns-for-treating-pain

It can help some people, depending on what kind it is. If it helps you then take it. And mixing mmj with Kratom also helps boost both

I agree...do whatever works.. Both herbs are much safer than Oxycodone or other opiates.

Cannabis has NEVER done anything but cause problems for me but if it helps you go for it!

High amounts of CBD is supposed to be the best for pain BUT some people need some THC thrown in there to help it work.

Just like Kratom it takes some experimenting.

COB (Christophers Organic Botanicals) carries a great CBD product that does NOT require THC in my metabolism. I had all but given up on CBD until I tried his line (of one CBD product). The stuff I buy here where I live (the capital of weed, CA), didn’t help anything except stress me out financially. What ever. For $20 you can try a good one COB carries.

My recent trial with CBD oil was once again a disaster...another depressive episode BUT not so acute as last time (2016)… AND no pain relief whatsoever.

Once I figured out what was going on (it is really hard to think straight when you are depressed), I took my homeopathic "go to" for depression (Aurum 200C) and within a few hours I was back to normal.

Cannabis is definitely NOT for everyone.

Many thanks to ILK member Teeswaran for helping me through that one.

Bomalley,
CBD is not marijuana, It does nothing for me, The best I ever had was given to me by a worker at a local dispensary, it was a totally 100 % thc pill, legal for people with a card in Pa, where pot is legal. It was very relaxing, but but not much for pain, I was told you need a mixture of both to get help for pain. For my pain, I hope I can stay on what my doc has me on.
Best,
Guit30

The two main terpenes in Cannabis that have had the most study are CBD and THC. It is the THC that is supposedly reponsible for the Cognitive effects ie the high.

People say they get high from marijuana but it has only EVER given me a low, and EXCEPT for the mood change, I have never felt physically impaired by using it. Mentally it just made me stupid.

www.cannimed.ca/pages/thc-and-cbd

I have tried all variations of CBD and THC ratios including pure CBD oil with no THC. I have vaped, smoked, ingested and used it topically.

This most recent effort was oil only. I took .5 to 1 ml once per day maybe 2 - 3 times per week. I thought it was working for pain because my Kratom use went down, BUT in fact it was just putting me to sleep so I was sleeping through my usual late afternoon Kratom dose. ANYTIME I am not on my feet my pain levels go way down.

So as far as marijuana goes for me it is NUTHIN' when it comes to pain relief.

I am glad you have found it helpful...I did not.

We have had legal medical marijuana in Canada for many years. Soon recreational cannabis will be legal BUT I cannot for the life of me figure out WHY anyone would want to take the stuff for fun...it was not fun for me. In 2016 it put me into a depression so bad the doc at the pain clinic did an urgent referral to a psychiatrist who made the diagnosis.

Neither Cannabis nor Kratom will work very well for all people, although the cannabis advocates would have you believe differently.

If we could JUST get the same momentum that led to the legalization of marijuana behind Mitragyna Speciosa, those of use who rely on this herb to keep going could rest a little easier.

Sadly, without the opportunity to make a lot of money, there is no motivation to bother with research and study for this plant.

I use cannabis daily for stress relief, at the end of the day. (usually after dinner) I normally use a tiny amount. Most inexperienced users tend to forget that you don't need much since strains these days are so strong. Taking too much can easily lead to a bad experience. (anxiety, paranoia, etc.)

When I get a migraine, NOTHING works better than cannabis. It not only gets rid of 99% of the pain, it shortens the duration from what could be 10-12 hours, down to 1-2 hours. It is amazing.

If you need to use a lot of cannabis for pain, I would suggest a strain high in CBD as was mentioned. CBD also helps eliminate the paranoia and anxiety that some experience.

Sometimes people that have bad experiences with cannabis can go on and on about what a terrible drug it is. It has saved my life. I used to drink alcohol excessively for years and since moving to Colorado I have not had a drink in years. It's an amazing drug. I used to have to take hydrocodone occasionally for migraines, now I vape some cannabis and I'm fine.

Good luck!

I find it interesting that we have two consecutive posts here on opposite ends of the spectrum regarding marijuana and its usefulness for treating pain.

Chronic pain is such an complex phenomenon! Therapies have to be individualized.

Which is probably why physicians find it so difficult to treat. They want cookie cutter solutions and it just WILL NOT HAPPEN when it comes to chronic pain.
