BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND...
A few months ago we asked some of the Approved Vendors to offer some discounts to our community. A lot of them graciously did. We have been asked to bring those discounts back. The following vendors would like to share the love for this forum with you. I know we all appreciate it.

I just watched a documentary on Kratom and there was some mention about possible hazards of mixing meds with Kratom..

My girlfriend has been on 30 mg daily of methadone for several years due to a disease called FMD, fibromuscular dysplasia.

This is my first post here and am still navigating through the many topics within the forum, but my first question is to ask about mixing current meds while experimenting with Kratom.

She also suffers from IBS, panic attacks, high blood pressure and thyroid problems. Of which she takes different meds for each except the IBS for which there is no known medication.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I wouldn't advise it myself, I tried mixing kratom and opiates after I had relapsed, and was trying to get back to kratom, and it made me a mess, it made it seem as though the opiates weren't working so I was using more, and then it seemed like the kratom wasn't working very well so I kept going back to the opiates. In my experience kratom worked best after I had gotten pretty well everything out of my system first. Just my opinion though. Methadone is no joke so I wouldnt feel safe myself taking kratom while still on the methadone. Just doesn't sound safe.

So she would need to "cold turkey" through perhaps a 30 detox before experimenting with Kratom.. Perhaps no way aroung that ... :(

Thank you for the reply... Really appreciate it :)

No need to go totally cold turkey from my study of the issue, but it is wise to wind down the dosage of methadone considerably -- which is hard, I know, because it has a long half-life in the body -- before starting kratom (and staying off methadone henceforth). Generally, the medical literature says kratom and opioids block each other's effects, which explains Levonne's experience. I've written a couple articles about "Beginner's Guide for Kratom Use" (or some such name) and "The Easy Way to Quit Opioids with Kratom" (or something like that) --they're both in the blog section of this Website. Methadone and suboxone both are very hard to quit, but kratom cushions the fall very well. Advise her not to turn back to the methadone, it will just lengthen the agony. Kratom can also be a big help with IBS and perhaps her other conditions.

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, georgeingraham!

Like Paul said, kratom is a wonderful tool for getting OFF methadone.

The forum RN’s will guide you on replacing a methadone dose for kratom, then not, etc to use kratom as a tool in cutting meds out.

It takes some work to find vendor, strains, dose sizes, etc, so the wish to discontinue meds must be strong enough to do the legwork.

Kratom is very helpful in combating the opioid epidemic in this country. However, the FDA awarded the OxyContin manufacturers a blank patent (check) to develop a drug INSTEAD (so the fed gets a cut of the money, and so detox center profits remain high), so kratom is under threat - legally. No time like NOW for getting toxic substances out of the body. But you’ll want to review some of the other meds involved because kratom is best appreciated safely on its own.

Not everyone gets blocked effects while on opiates (such as methadone), so caution should be considered.

Kratom is an opiate AGONIST. I get ZERO relief from opiates when I use kratom. I find it MORE HELPFUL for my overall health and activity levels versus opiates, clean of opiates 18 months. But I’m STILL learning about the leaf and I’ve been dabbling with it since 2012 it since.

I was given the “gift of desperation” to make the changes to save my quality of life.

Not everyone gets the “gift” I got. Levonne got it.
(Waving hello to Levonne)

Enjoy the endless information here and in the blogs. Aside from outdated state legalization battles, all info is still current and applicable today.
