I'm on a strict protocol involving multiple herbal health supplements meant to support digestion. Will taking them within 1 hour or so of kratom mess me up?

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Lucidity!

There’s no possible way for us to know what your body will do in response to kratom.

I would recommend you avoid kratom to be on the safe side.

That way you have no concerns about kratom causing adverse effects.

Kratom doesn’t CAUSE anything if it’s not ingested.

It can bring on constipation and other digestive problems, as well some other wonderful benefits. But people CAUSE it to be ingested.

Since digestion is ALREADY an issue for you, it’s more likely to aggravate your digestive system. So sorry but I would caution against it.

We’ll see what some other opinions are. I’m only one opinion.

Glad you found our forum for your complex and important question.

Maybe more details on your digestive issues and current treatment regimen can help change my opinion, too?!

Hello lucidity!! WELCOME!!

I agree with Laurie’s opinion/suggestion , best to be safe and not compound pre-existing conditions...not good to aggravate your ailments

however Just a thought , .... i can’t claim that this would help pertaining digestive issues with kratom, but I would research kratom tea and see what you can find out. There’s lots of insoluble fiber in kratom and it will def affect digestive process to a point for most people even with out a preexisting digestive condition. Take all the fiber out of it and drinking the tea might be ok..? Idk , I’m not a tea drinker , maybe a member here who drinks tea has a better idea than me about that .. till then , its best to play it safe (c) (L)

Like Laurie wrote , without knowing exactly what your situation is makes it hard to suggest taking it. But be safe , always !!

Take care

Thank you. I took a small dose today to test it, then moved to a full dose. Felt great with no stomach issues

I should say I've used kratom before several years ago without incident, but my health was also in a different state back then

My condition is a bit complicated, but it boils down to 3 autoimmune disorders - hypothyroid, adrenal fatigue, and leaky gut. I have the first 2 handled and am working on the last one with a functional medicine doctor.

That’s great news, Lucidity. Keep a close eye on things because kratom does affect the digestive/bowel and your fragile condition is to be respected. Glad you’re being safe! Keep us posted. Lots of others suffer with similar (but different) problems and your example might be very helpful for a lurker.

Plus we like to know how members are doing beyond Day One.

Have you asked if L-Glutamine might be of any help? I read about in Dr. Atkins guide to supplements. Basically, it's all about repairing the body. I hav a kilo of it from blulk supplements via Amazon, and some of the reviews there say it works for leaky gut. I bought it for use after tough workouts. drwillcole.com/taking-l-glutamine-gut-health/

I use it after meals. Can’t recall what inspired me, but I think it was multiple sources I actually trust recommended it.

I can’t tell if it does anything. I also got from Bulk Supplements using them on Amazon (their website and I do not work well together).

The term "digestive issues" encompasses a wide range of possibilities, so it is difficult to predict how Kratom might affect someone who needs their digestion "supported".

Some people DO experience nausea with first use of Kratom. This usually can be resolved with adjusting the dose, and with continued use a lot of digestive issues from using Kratom go away.

My own digestive support includes using digestive enzymes and bile salts. They are taken WITH food so they do not interact at all with Kratom as I always take Kratom separate from food. However, Kratom is a plant so digestive enzymes would help to digest the cellulose (starch and fiber) in the powder.

It is better to think of Kratom as a food (because it is) rather than a medication. The only reason some of us like to take it on an empty stomach is so nothing interfers with absorption and we can get the best effect from the dose.

For beginners starting low and going slow is the best approach. There has to be a sweet spot where the dose brings about the required effects with the least amount of digestive upset.
