Hi there,
I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm 62 and currently take Ritalin for my ADHD symptoms and have for several years. I'm curious if any of you have found success using Kratom to help with attention span and lack of energy. Theres more than one type of ADD/ADHD instead of the stereo typical little boy bouncing off the wall. Mine is ADHD mainly Innattentive. I may be physically calm, but my mind is running at Mach I.

I know that as I age,it's going to be harder to obtain my Ritalin prescription. I'm trying to have a plan in place for when they decide I'm too old. I'm going to read this forum trying to learn all I can about Kratom. I do have a decent sized stash with many varieties. Thanks in advance for any help one can give.

Hey lacie !! Nice to have you !!

I don’t have ADD , but I recall having read some folks having good results with some white ( more stimulating) varieties.... which would make sense, as meds for ADD are stimulants that react in a focusing and calming way for folks with that ...

If I find any more info I’ll post it here ...

Take care Lacie (L)

nootriment.com/nootropics-for-add-adhd/

nootropicsexpert.com/best-nootropics-for-adhd-add/

I take low doses of Alpha-GPC, Adrafinil, Aniracetam, and L-Tyrosine.

I guess I can see the Adrafinil and Aniracetam working on ADHD, I don't really know though.

IIRC Laurie has used Adrafinil, but in the past. For me it was strong enough that I took the the 300 mg. capsules that are the standard dose and opened them up (they have filler, so each capsule has around 480 mg. total) so as to use it over three days. Which might also be a good idea in regards my liver as unlike the modafinil (which is prescription only) it breaks down into (among other stuff) it requires liver enzymes to work on it first.

Afaik the Air Force used to/still insist pilots took it, or maybe Modafinil, so as to stay focused when sleep deprived.

The White MD from Kratom Krates had me thinking that. :) But any typical, good, white should do the same if taken in a sufficient amount.

hi lacie!

I don't have this issue but ill help where I can and give you some of my experiences. I think kratom has the ability to help with many conditions. it has with many of us.

typically white strains for energy, yellow or gold for mellow energy, green for focus and well being, and red for sedation and pain. this being said its good to start small and see what works for you, and how. that being said I would only try a white only in the morning ect.

see what works for you. I personally think a green/ white or gold blend might work for you. if its closer to dinnertime maybe green/ red. I have a feeling white strains by themselves might give you too much 'mach 1 ' energy so a green might be better. so hard to predict. im no kratom doctor just can give suggestions.

let us know how a trial run goes and if you need any assistance with starter doses ect..I don't recommend mixing kratom with medications to be on the safe side...or chandelier acrobats might seem like a good idea! lol.. good luck!

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Lacie J!

I suspect that I suffer with a variation of these issues but my dr did not agree and I actually trust her - she’s not easily dismissing of my wild ideas - haha.

I would imagine KRATOM could be an incredible tool for you. The replies you’ve gotten so far make sense to me.

Just a word of caution: white vein can be unpredictable. Each envelope I try is different. I’m also SOMETIMES an “opposite” and end up in need of a nap from white vein.

Ok, that was not a word.

What I’m saying is, you’ll need to be patient with trial and error self testing before you’ll know what helps and how well it helps.

I’m so glad you are willing to try kratom before your last prescription has been written so you can conduct proper experiments at your convenience. Please take notes AND post about your journey because there is every reason to think kratom will be helpful for you. And your experience will be incredibly important for those coming behind you with that diagnosis!

A huge thank you to all of you for taking the time to reply to my posts. This is my second attempt to post this because after I wrote it all out and clicked submit, my internet connection was temporarily lost and my post was gone. The nootropic sites are wonderful and full of great info. However, in truly typical ADD fashion, I can't finish either in one setting. The tabs for both are open and will stay that way.I'll take a few days, read it carefully and take notes.

I buy cheap notebooks and each is for one subject. All my thoughts, things I'd like to try, sites I'd like to visit, etc.goes into the book. I don't have to go through several notebooks looking for something as much. Kratom has it's own and nootropics will as well. My long term goal for treating my ADD is incorporating natural supplements into my med regimen and eventually being able to either quit stimulants or be at a very low dose.

From what I've read so far, taking them along with supplements is common and acceptable. It will take quite a while and a lot of trial and error. I know that whites are most stimulating and I have a good bit of whites. Mostly Maeng Da. I have an order waiting for me to pick up at the post office and among them is white sumatra. I've heard good things so I'm hopeful.

I recently got a sampler from Mitragaia. (am I allowed to name names?) Among them is Ganesh MD. It's great. Very stimulating and reminds me of the feeling when Ritalin first starts working. I took 2 tsps.and it lasted about 4 hours.I wrote about it in my Kratom book.

Thanks again for all your efforts and time spent to help me. I so appreciate you. Posting here is one of the better things I've done. I feel very welcome and accepted here. It's nice not to be treated as though ADD isn't real or that I'm just seeking drugs. I hate being told it's all in my head or that I just don't try hard enough. Thanks for no judging.

There are many things that can be mistaken for ADD and it's also common for other conditions to be present along with ADD. Although some symptoms and behaviors are characteristic of ADD, they affect each differently. Many, many things I spent my life thinking were serious flaws in my character are ADD symptoms.

Lastly, if any of you have questions about ADD/ADHD or where you can go to learn more about it, please ask me.I can't tell you how many people seek help and diagnosis once they learn of behaviors or symptoms that others have. Common for a parent to be diagnosed as soon as their child is diagnosed.

Totally get what you mean about people thinking it’s not an illness at all, or it’s all in our heads, or we are seeking attention/sympathy etc.

I think this whole forum is respectful and we try to treat people with the same respect we would enjoy.

Like you said, coming here is a great thing I did for myself one time and I’ve been returning for years because the learning never ends! Pretty sure you’re our Official ADD spokesperson for the ILK forum and I’m looking forward to learning more about your challenges and triumphs.
