Hiya Folks--

I am a writer and editor and long time substance abuser and recoverer. For some reason, I have become absolutely fascinated with study of the opiates recently--their history, reasons and mechanisms of addiction, withdrawal and recovery...all the Joys And Sorrows. I have decided that my second full book (first one written but not published yet) is going to be non-fiction and will address the "new" opiate plague in America, (which we all know is not new at all!), with perhaps some novel non-12-step concepts for withdrawal and recovery.

I am not a doctor, but I am an M.A.-level psychotherapist with 20 years experience in private practice, as well as training in substance abuse counseling and pharmacology, so I do have credentials. I am looking for folks who would be willing to let me interview them, and perhaps quote them anonymously (by written agreement).

I was an opiate addict myself for about twelve years, so I know THE DRAGON well. Tentative title for the book is, "In the Gardens of the Dragon." Content still uncertain, which is why I would like to talk to YOU--to help me gain the benefit of your wisdom and experience, and set a purpose and direction for this book.

If this project interests you, please message me and we can take it from there. My hope is to produce a book that will be poetic, intriguing, informative, and healing all at the same time. A tall order, but a small tribute to pay to my youngest cousin Miranda, who died on Thanksgiving at age 24 of a heroin overdose.

Thanks!

Sounds like a great Idea. You will help a lot of people with your book. I am so sorry about your Cousin Miranda. People don't know how bad their addiction is until they are clean for awhile then they can reflect & see how Drugs can Completely Destroy their Lives & all people around them. Good Luck with the book! :-bd
