The FDA has asked Indonesia to limit or deny issuing Photosanitary Certificates needed for exporting Mitragyna. Some that have been in the buisness a long time know a loophole to still get some Kratom out but this may effect supply. I don't personally understand the power the FDA has in asking another country to do this but if anyone can further explain this situation I'd love to hear it. They are also targeting some online vendors I know of 2 that have been shut down so far. Here's a link to the FDA last eat announcement www.accessdata.fda.gov/cms_ia/importalert_1137.html
Attached is a picture of a document one of my suppliers was given when he tried to ship. If anyone knows what this says please translate. It's like reffer madness 2.

From what I hear it is a few lines that changed. And people are panicking a bit and having trouble with POS indonesia. From what I understand it is just tighter restriction on labeling. We haven't had an issue, although we had to make some adjustments. Everyone I know in Indo is business as usual again, so I am not too worried right now.

It is quite conceivable that the U.S. government could exert pressure on Indonesia to restrict or end shipments of kratom, just as we put pressure on South American countries to destroy their drug crops in past years. The USA could either withold money that had been promised for some other purpose like antidrug or anti-terrorism efforts OR we could place sanctions on other trade items or increase tariffs to make their products less desirable for purchase here.

I believe the FDA is trying to send a signal to importers and vendors that it is time to file a New Dietary Ingredient application for kratom. The FDA is hesitant to shut down all kratom imports, but they don't want it to go on without some attempt to comply with existing FDA regulations. We, at the American Kratom Association, suspect that the FDA knows how important kratom is for those who use it medicinally and therefore, don't want to totally shut down the supply. Sales are also worth as much as $250,000,000 to the U.S. economy and are creating many new jobs.

What may be going on in Indonesia is another matter. Sometimes the bigger exporters post phony documents and newspaper stories saying that kratom is now illegal in Indonesia, possibly to discourage the smaller exporters. And, of course, there are corrupt authorities who like bribes for faster service, given preferentially to shippers who can afford to pay.

I hope this blows over or is found not to be as serious as it sounds.

I'm not having trouble sourcing, there doesn't seem to be much of an issue, and those who are experiencing issues, don't have the appropriate contacts. There is no issue right now regarding this, not much anyway.

Also, there are more places than just Indonesia where a person can get Kratom from, and on top of that, not all of Indonesia requires the same documentation. You're most likely experiencing this because you're sourcing from the massive island of Borneo.
