We've had a tough fight to keep kratom legal in Alabama, with a lot of heavily slanted journalism calling kratom "synthetic heroin" and our opponents telling us it's "like taking a couple lortabs".

So, Susan Ash, our media contact and Founder/Diirector of the American Kratom Association, called and asked for a retraction of the misleading comments the station (WBRC FOX News) had made -- and they gave her time to tell our side of the story.

This opportunity came by way of a request from a reporter to have one of us contact them -- actually, they wanted someone to come down to their studio. Susan talked them into letting her do the spot by Skype.

So, I wanted to let you all know the lead posted on this forum got followed up on and this is what came out of it: www.wbrc.com/story/31431835/group-workin...b-when-used-properly

Your comments on the station's Facebook page got noticed and gave us this sterling opportunity to tell them the truth about kratom. Thanks!

Keep up the good work! Susan may be flying to Alabama to testify soon at an upcoming hearing by their legislature on whether to ban kratom...or not. Join the AKA ( www.americankratom.org ) and help us write emails and make phone calls in the states that are being challenged. We can do this, working together!

Many thanks to Susan Ash, Paul and other unsung heroes for your hard work!

I just got brave and sent short and to the point email to NYS Senate & Assembly asking them to vote "no" on Bills A8670 and S3645, which would ban kratom sales in NY state. It's not much, but if we don't speak up, we're the ones to lose out on our lifesaving tree.

Aimee, It doesn't take much from individuals -- just a batch of emails now and then, when called for. The hard work is done by Susan Ash and other lobbyists and activists who travel to testify and do the behind-the-scenes lobbying.

Emails have an effect, especially when they come in a flood and indicate a subject that voters are very concerned about. Our votes are what keep state and local politicians in office. Big corporations may have the money to pay for campaign advertising, but WE have the votes that are needed to keep politicians in office.

Thank you and the many others who care enough to take a little time to send those emails with your personal story of why kratom is important in your life. In the next few weeks, we will see the successes this system will deliver. You'll be surprised!

Yes, it only took 10 minutes. I just couldn't stand the thought of doing nothing, where good hard working people might lose this lifeline.

Looking forward to some positive news!

It looks like we may have once again prevented Florida from banning kratom. If nobody does a "Hail Mary" last-ditch effort to pass the ban on the legislature floor in the next hour and a half, we're golden in that state. That's some good news, for you!

Such great news!

It's wonderful to see that Susan is getting the chance to spread the good word about Kratom. She's really good representation, very professional and comes with a great testimonial supporting the plant.

I'm very grateful to see that the ILK forum has yielded some positive results.

Are there any updates on legality in Florida, or New York state? Waiting anxiously.

Hey Aimee!

I was informed by Paul on Friday that the legislation season for Florida has ended and Kratom was not banned! As for New York, the bill is still pending.

I will post updates in the forum as I hear about them. :-bd
