It really frosts me that even the experts do not use the term "addiction" correctly.

Kratom DOES have a potential for chemical dependence BUT a LOW potential for addiction.

Hopefully the AKA 8-factor analysis will point this out.

People who are chemically dependent on the alkaloids in Kratom (count me in) are not likely to have negative consequences from its continues use. Also not likely to lose jobs, or resort to illegal means to procure it, etc so potential for addiction is low.

Best example is coffee. LOTS of people are chemically dependent on caffeine BUT are not addicts, because its continued use does not have negative results on their life.

I agree, the "experts" (who have never tried kratom and have major conflicts of interest with a company that may have a kratom alkaloid-based drug in their pipeline) SHOULD use words accurately, but the word, "Addiction" has so much more impact than does "dependence".

With a headline like "Kratom has deadly risks", it is evident that the FDA's agenda is to scare away people who might think of trying kratom.

The AKA's 8-Factor Analysis has been in the FDA's hands since last December, but they seem to be stumped on how they can come up with an answer to why kratom should still be banned.

Expecting a reasonable stance on kratom from the FDA is unlikely to happen when there's so much money Big Pharma could be making by driving the cheap powdered leaf from the market and presenting us with one or more synthetic versions, "take it or leave it".

I'm thinking that's what they WANT to do, but we're not going to let them. When enough voters tell Congress something is important to them, they usually get what they want. Stay tuned for the AKA's rebuttal to Dr. Gottlieb's statement.

People are commenting on FDA's facebook page.

Don't know if that will help.

True stuff. Our vendors have been suffering this unnecessary risk for YEARS due to illegal confiscation. So this is not new.

I’m listening to coasttocoastam dot com and George Noory just spelled out K R A T O M and told his audience to “be careful”. What a nerd...Art Bell would never have said that (as an on-air personality OR as a chronic pain sufferer).

I’ll bet the publicity just brings MORE customers (suffering patients with no options that somehow hadn’t heard about this botanical yet) to the vendors, which helps cover their cost of risk.

Ugh! I was on that FDA post and the more I read the angrier I got. I made a post. Probably too long for most to read but hopefully the FDA clowns take the time. Afterall Im sure someone is paid millions to run social media fearmongering.
