Interesting. I noticed he tweeted an anti-kratom article of the WA POST quoting him this past Sunday. I really thought it was unusual for him to tweet from his personal twitter acct and not on behalf of the FDA.

We’ll see where he is welcomed with open arms. I’m sure he’s got a strategy to place himself somewhere like the DEA or something.

I admit I haven’t read the article yet - been offline all day. Thanks for posting it!

EDIT: read the article. I won’t be comfortable with this news at all until I know the replacement person is not involved with the pharmaceutical industry too intimately. Cautiously optimistic.

"The 46-year-old physician, millionaire venture capitalist also worked as a consultant to drug and health-care companies."
I said previously about his statements against Kratom it wasn't hard to figure out whose pockets he was in.
It baffles me that Wall Street, Big Pharma, and Big Industry..,along with people like the Koch brothers run the Federal government. They either employed to important positions or work as lobbyists.

But I think this pissed big pharma off and put a nail in his coffin:
"He spoke frequently about taking steps to combat escalating drug prices -- venturing into an area that is not traditionally regarded as part of the FDA’s portfolio -- and pressed as a partial remedy faster generic-drug approvals to foster competition with pricey brand-name products. Last year, the agency approved a record 971 generic drugs. He also began posting lists of drugs that aren’t protected by patents, inviting applications from generic manufacturers, and sharply criticized brand-name companies for thwarting generic competition."

Tried to bite the hand that was feeding him all these yrs. Bad move on his part. Glad he is gone!!

I suppose I shall be the proverbial 'bad guy'. Idk, I did not like his stance on Kratom, naturally. None of did,, nor did thousands that relied on it, and even those that did not use it but recognized its potential. So, that part aside, idk. He DID lower a lot of prices, and promoted the off brands etc. I have learned alot in my rather short life, and one of those things, is to give the devil his due. Credit where credit it needed. To this mans credit, I give him that. I don't know what he is like, I don't know the values he holds, or what his life is like out of the spot light. I don't know if he truly wanted kratom gone, or was simply parroting what he was told, or maybe he was 'forced', I don't know. It makes no difference in the big picture, I know, and its all conjecture. But, he deserves credit for the people he DID help. He wasn't all a bad guy, even though I wish he had taken a step FOR our wonderful tree as opposed.

Now, we have to wait and see what the next person will do. Maybe it will be the break we need. Maybe it will be the defining point, this next person to push for its nationwide acceptance:( ? Or maybe they will not, and instead will be the one to ban it completely.

The devil you know...
