I heard today, from my source over there that the Indo Ministry of Health still seems to believe the U.S. FDA, more than the AKA's fine scientific consultant -- and hugely credentialled expert on drugs -- Jack Henningfield, PhD. The Ministry of Health seems to be moving, as they had planned, in the direction of slowly phasing out kratom production (even cutting down the plantations and perhaps(?) the wild trees). They are nuts, imho!

The AKA delegation is being assured by several of our advisors that the Ministry of Health will be overruled by perhaps the Ministry of Commerce and/or the President of Indonesia. I tend to believe that -- the country already has some degree of Islamic insurgency, so it would only inflame them to cut off this great source of income that is currently HELPING the poor to live more comfortably, which is the best deterrent to communism or Islamic fanaticism.

I hope to have more information, but it wasn't available this morning early. I will hopefully hear more of substance, either tonight or tomorrow morning, but I don't think there's anything to fear.

I've got to wonder if this Health Ministry has received a large bribe from the FDA, but I'm confident that wiser heads will prevail. Kratom is a great benefit for those here who want to live free of all sorts of opioid and other drugs -- and it is helping the people of Indonesia. WHY is this a hard decision to make?

I believe our cause will prevail.

Thanks, Nan 70, for the shout-out for my blog!

Today, I was told the "papers had already been signed" by the Health Ministry, so the impression I'm getting is that this plan is already approved by other Ministries of the Indo gov't. I hope I'm wrong.

I still have hopes they may change their mind, though my suspicion is that Big Pharma may have paid someone off, with the intent of getting cheap kratom off the market in time for them to roll out a synthetic kratom analog in 5 years. I'm just speculating. It seems odd they could disregard the scientific research that has shown kratom safe, while taking the FDA's word that it causes hallucinations, opioid-like withdrawals, seizures, and death.

I'd like to know what the economic impact of kratom exports is for the Indo people. I don't see how raising sesame seeds, even MORE palm oil, or anything else is likely to favorably compare with the ROI of harvesting and processing kratom leaves.

That’s def not great news ..!! Is it a good idea to stock pile?? If the place were it’s grown is outlawed... that pretty much means no more coming to the states..?? Or am I seeing this in the wrong light?? How should one take this and prepare for the possibility... or is it just to soon to know ??

Those insatiable politicians and their dirty minions ....

I’m gonna do my best to stay positive, is there hope that this will not happen??

Thx Paul

Good morning everyone! Thank you Paul for the reports. I wish I were as optimistic as you are. Unfortunately I'm not. I know my government. Now I don't know how the Indonesian government works. I hope that it is not taken away from the peoples who have been using this leaf for countless generations! All the deforestation that is spreading around the planet for "Palm Oil" is devastating to the environment and indigenous peoples. Palm Oil that delivers empty nutrients and is causing a rise in auto immune diseases, not to mention diabetes and obesity, in the Western countries. I would much rather have Kratom in it's natural state than a damn bag of "Dorito's". What really bothers me is the arrogance and the LIE! And it comes across as bullying to me. The people who are harvesting and curing the Kratom are once again going to be holding the short end of the rope! The only people whom are going to benefit from a Big Pharma and USA government payoff are going to be the government officials in Indonesia! I'm certain the powers that be KNOW that Kratom is as harmless as cannabis. Once again the LIE is pushed to demonize whole cultures and anyone who is taking Kratom. It's a Ponzi scheme of the highest order. My heart goes out to the Indonesian peoples.

IF the Kratom is banned in America then I NEVER want to see the crocodile tears of our elected officials bemoaning the current drug crises that pervades the USA. And also decimating many countries around the world! The moaning and tears will ring very hollow! And if prohibition has taught anyone with half a brain anything is this: people will try to heal themselves and seek relief from a stressful existence. People with non curable diseases. People trying to escape horrible addictions. A lot of opiate addictions brought about through no fault of their own. The list is very long for those who have been disenfranchised from their own country due to the greed of the very people trying to demonize Kratom! For many people this leaf is a God send!!!

I ask your forgiveness for my ranting. I am calling it the way I see it. How can I not after everything I've been through and experienced over the years? But this issue gets me so angry I can hardly spit! I'm hoping that free speech is still respected here in the USA. There is no guarantees that we have THAT anymore.

Be blessed everyone. I'm praying everything will work out.

In the end, money talks. This is a big industry for them. I am sure it brings a lot of money into the country. that is hard for any government to ignore. If they ban, that revenue into Indonesia will drop off and they might not like what happens.

Forgive me for not being fully informed, but if Indonesia shuts down the kratom industry will this affect shipments to the U.S. from places like Vietnam, Cambodia, and other non-Indo nations? Could be an economic bonanza for non-Indo kratom-producing nations, but tight supply would likely send prices through the roof.

Question for kratom old-timers. I knew nothing about kratom back in 2016 when it was threatened with the U.S. ban. For those who were there, how much advance warning was given by the government before the scheduled ban was to take effect? Days? Weeks? Months? My concern is, if the time comes, that the DEA might announce a ban to take place in, say, 48 hours.

My strategy from the beginning has been to slowly accumulate supply for fear that a ban will occur someday. Hope I'm wrong, but the little voice in my head....

If Indonesia is getting any aid from the USA then Indonesia will do what is asked of them. I'm too darn old to have to worry about contraband. And it's all so unnecessary. That's what chaps the hind quarters!!! I'm trying to stay positive but I'm not real trusting. Look at the undisputed proof the Federal has about cannabis and that's not a sure thing. I hope I'm wrong. There is one hope against this prohibition mentality that the Federal loves to wield: States Rights.

Be blessed.
