Hi everyone, its been long time since i've been posting something in here. But just to give some news about our fight in indonesia for kratom legality in indonesia i need to tell you guys the fact, so you wont get blind information on media nowadays.

So, recently there is big things happening in indonesia about kratom. Our DEA (BNN) once again show their fang. They are making a letter that show how they support kratom ban in indonesia by transition time of 5 years (2017-2022), so in 2022 they will act to ban kratom in indonesia.
Then on november 5th BNN making a forum group discussion in west borneo to discuss about kratom ban with all stakeholder without us kratom association in indonesia, and they agree to ban kratom in 2022. And the news spread, and most people that is not on kratom business just think that kratom is banned now and its a narcotics because of false news from media.

We are fighting right now since we know the data BNN used to make kratom illegal was outdated and we can counter it. But we need support from you guys mainly AKA. We need all the data research or prove that you guys have done to support us to show it to our government.

Tell people about this so we wont have to worry about our beloved plant in 2022 in indonesia. Thank you guys

Thanks for the post, Dwi! I heard about the Ministry of Health wishing to plant rubber trees and destroy the forests there.

However, I haven’t seen any reference material yet.

We will definitely support the AKA in fighting this and please post any other suggestions on how we can help. Putting the scientists back on a plane to Indonesia sounds like something to look for sooner than later.

Thank you, Dwi! We appreciate your announcement and wish you had better news.

Sounds like the Ministry of Health has NOT YET been swayed by science and probably has been swayed by someone else over here that is still influencing your government.

Rubber trees are not a good plan for the soil or the incomes of Indonesian people.

Around any tree, but especially large, old, ones, there's a whole ecology that works in harmony with that tree, and that has a wide impact on the areas that they're located in. If history is any guide, then scientists will find a wealth of useful organisms in the soil around these trees, and once replaced, they'll be at risk of being lost.

If we could get some well financed scientists over there to look at the trees and soil, then maybe they would be inspired to see some grant money flow into the region.

And if that money leads to jobs for government bureaucrats, then that would be helpful as well as would any positive publicity that the research generated.

And if it can be proven that Kratom trees have a better carbon footprint than do rubber tree plants, then that could used as a cause to rally environmentalists around the world, and maybe get their respective governments to cut some checks so as to leave the Kratom alone.

IIRC money gets sent to the Amazon rain forest for that reason.

And if the local fauna would get disrupted by rubber trees coming in, then that would be another reason for environmentalist groups to get involved.

Usually this sort of information comes from different sources than Dwi. I’m waiting to verify the status of this.

Your points are all extremely appreciated and appropriate, Babel-17.

It just amazes me the way these bureaucrats operate. A plant that has been sacred in another country for probably a thousand years, and used for healing and part of their society, and our misinformed and uncaring government entity, dont want to name letters and get swept by a search engine, decides to decimate a cultural norm because someone is paid off so someone can look good about doing something about our "drug" problem. This is probably inappropriate but true.

Makes me so mad I cant stand it. And feel horrible for the people of Indonesia. I am not a good candidate for this kind of work because I get too emotional about the wrongs done from the beginning of this "great"nation. Im proud to say I am embarrassed to be an American.
