Hi Kristen. I am so jealous of your allergy relief. Was it just one product or strain, or are all of them providing that relief.
I am interested in hearing any feedback on prime Bali, by any company. Also interested in something that helps the headache part of allergies. Or headache, and fever reducer. OTM's are not helping, so far kratom hasn't helped. But I am new and only have about 6 or 7 strains from 2 vendors (and another one coming based on your research - thanks in advance for reviewing the Green Leaf line.
I got 2 strains from Zion, and they are perfectly nice and professional, but I cannot tell if they do anything - so far. I haven't given them proper attention as I came down with a bad case of hives. They have put me back in the bed I finally left due to kratom. I am pretty positive the tea did not cause the hives! 99.999 percent sure it was a sensitivity to a pharmaceutical blood pressure med I got instead of the generic. Have you ever gotten hives from your research work? THANKS,

Thanks Laurie,
I am very grateful to have cured my allergy (by some miracle?) and I realize how lucky I am. Like I said earlier, I didn't anticipate that at all. I had pretty bad allergies including accompanying headaches and I remember one time I got hives from a new body wash - since I got that allergy in the middle of the night, I had to drive to an overnight pharmacy.
Anyways it's not connected to any particular strain - my routine with kratom is I burn ONE kind of leaf for the whole day and the next day I rotate to a different one. This is said to prevent your body from getting used to/developing resistance to kratom. I also feel that the results are cumulative as I didn't just immediately stopped having allergy the same day I started on my kratom journey. I think I was about 3-4 weeks into it. I remember burning Kratom and going first a day (skipping my morning Benadryl) and then it was 2 days... It was in a course of one week that I noticed that I didn't need my meds anymore. I did take them out of habit for the 3rd week but then I just stopped and here I am! Totally free. To answer your question no I have NEVER gotten allergy nor hives from kratom itself.
As far as Bali review I highly recommend you try Bali strain - it's a great one. Actually, I wrote the review on Bali from Green Leaf but my next will be from another vendor once I receive it in the mail.

I wish you the best of luck in your kratom journey and I'm glad that my reviews are helping folks everywhere! Keep following for more vendors/strains in the future :)

Today I received a new shipment of Kratom - this time I will be reviewing different strains from vendor called Kratom Underground. This time, as part of a new practice, I asked the owners what their top 5 strains were - I received a response that their Premium Maeng-Da was their customer's favorite, so I ordered it amongst others. The ordering process was a breeze - I received the shipment in 2 days with one sample I requested, and my order was 100% all there and packed well.

1.Premium Maeng Da from Kratom Underground. Kratom-Underground's kratom differs from other vendors - it's much more bitter , and the powder is darker in color. Upon burning it, I can attest that YES, it was indeed quite premium and pleasant aroma, one of the best. It was voted customers favorite for a reason! As I noted in my other reviews, Maeng Da is not my favorite strain because of so many various side effects (jitteriness, complexity, headdaches to name a few). Well, not this strain. This particular Maeng Da was very smooth, it lacked all of the negatives I've come to expect from Maeng Da. Definitely recommended.
Euphoria: A+ , Quick onset.
Speed: Fast but very smooth.
Focus: Slightly Sharper.
Duration: 4 hrs
Confidence: This strain should be one of the staples of why people should appreciate kratom - the superb self-confidence, the energy, the power drive, the feelings of content and overall well-being, that calm confidence and appreciation of the world around you. It's very uplifting and helps you function rather than sogging you down.
What you will like it for: smooth energy, gives positive outlook.
What you will dislike about it: it's not for nighttime as it might keep you awake all night.

2.To be continued...

Thanks, Kristen. Your research has been invaluable.
I found similar "issues" with Maeng Da. It really is wonderful on my depressed brain, but those "extras" are not always worth it.
Being able to find numerous vendors and strains for virtually the "same" results should help many people manage to remember to keep things fresh, and Rotate. And take breaks. The breaks in use have a high cost - usually 4 days to build back up to "normal" after a break. As I get older, 4 days add up! Hopefully I can take the breaks a little less frequently, since good strains are essential for function in society due to my brain chemical imbalance. Thank you for guiding the way when you can. Like a flashlight on a trail at night with a half moon glowing, helping the ones in back avoid tree stumps on the path.

Hello and welcome to my thread! Thanks for great questions. With all my kratom testing, the dosage is 5 g, and I boil it for a good 15 minutes for a nice and smooth, particle-free elixir.

I will continue on today with some more testing. To update testing with Kratom Underground, I have reviewed their superb Maeng Da which was pretty smooth and not unusually bitter for this strain - actually I have noticed this incredible bitterness with all the maeng da's. Maeng-da is definitely one of my least favorites. Anyways, I decided to wrap up the rest of the testing for this vendor, because the rest of their strains (including the ever popular white borneo, which I really anticipated to pack a punch) were way too weak to write a review about. There was nothing to write home about and for a seasoned kratom hobbyist, these strains do not offer comparable effectiveness (and strength) as some others.

Moving on! In this week's reviews I will be covering several popular strains from a new vendor called Mu Synergetics. First things first: this vendor is located in Santa Rosa CA, and have called me promptly after I emailed an inquiry. They get an A+ for quick communication and speedy shipping - I received the shipment in just 2 business days. Payments are handled via the phone only. Everything arrived professionally packed, and I got 4 free samples which I will cover later on in the review.

Date: March 1st, 2015.

Strain#1. Pontianak White Vein from Mu Synergetics. Interesting strain - I couldn't feel anything for an hour after burning, so I have dozed up another 5g. After an hour I have finally felt sort of tunnel vision and heightened focus - like I have just consumed a cup of coffee (Maeng-Da compares to 2 cups of coffee so its a little less speedy). There was no euphoria whatsoever (which is associated with most kratom strains) just a clean wakefulness. I would be interested in mixing this strain with Bali for a nice daytime strain: Bali makes me too spacey on its own, thus I only burn it at night.
Euphoria: D. I haven't felt any
Speed: : Moderately Fast
Focus: Moderately Sharper
Confidence: Slight Increase
Sedation: Non-existent
What you will like it for: Increased energy and focus, very mild in action, can be a healthier substitute for coffee as it gives that "eye-opening" effect. Can be a great ingredient in a mix with slower strains.
What you might dislike it for: if you are looking for any sort of "high", this strain is not "it"!
(Disclaimer: the above reviews are my own personal experience only, as with any kratom, individual results may vary from user to user. So if you have had a different experience, feel free to update this thread for the benefit of all in our online kratom community. Because I am not affiliated nor biased towards any one vendor, I am constantly looking for the best quality kratom available on the market)

Date: March2, 2015.
Strain #2. Thai Green Vein from Mu Synergetics. I was happy to have ordered it, (considering I forgot to order Malaysian strain which was highly reviewed on their site) as apparently it's a bit stronger than GreenLeaf's Thai strain with a high alkaloid content. This Thai is a winner for all of the batch that I've gotten from the vendor, making it a superb daytime strain for any type of work where one needs to exercise focus and upbeat attitude for prolonged periods of time.
Euphoria: A+. Very nice!
Speed: Moderately to Above Average Fast
Focus: Moderate to Above Average Increase
Confidence: Moderate Increase
What you will like it for: Increased energy, mood enhancement and wonderful long lasting euphoria make this strain a personal favorite from the vendor.
What you might not like it for: What's not to like? This is a great pick for daytime kratom burning, so if you are looking for sedation, look at Bali and Riau strains.

To be continued... (L)

Hello and today, off-topic somewhat, I wanted to give out some tips on purchasing Kratom for the first time. The reviews, obviously, are helpful, but have in mind that we all respond to Kratom differently, so what's good for Jerry, is not always Tom's favorite!

So here are a few tips to have in mind when buying Kratom for the first time:

(c) 1.Email a vendor, introduce yourself, and inquire whether they carry a strain that you are looking for. Are you seeking pain relief? Energy booster during the daytime? Nighttime relaxation? You can start with a phrase like: "What are the best, freshest, and most potent strains that you currently carry for ....(pain relief, for example)?" This very first contact is very important as it will give you the opportunity to evaluate this vendor's customer service - How quickly do they respond? Do they conduct in a professional and courteous way? Are they trustworthy?
(L)
(c) 2.Since most vendors offer free samples, it's OK to order just one strain that you are sure to enjoy (Such as the the classic Bali or Green Vein Thai) and request the strains you are curious about as a sample - because they can be hit or miss.(Many of the strains have peculiar names, or are proprietary mixes that might peak your curiosity). If the vendor is hesitant to send too many samples, offer to pay for shipping or to cover a portion for a smaller quantity sample pack. Since most kratom vendors offer "sampler packs" which can run you $$$$ (hundreds of dollars), it's best to request a small pack of 5 mg each, this way you won't come off as someone looking for a handout. Explain, that as a client, you've had some bad experiences, and would prefer to sample their strains first to avoid disappointment. Most vendors are understanding of the fact that we all respond to kratom differently, and have our individual needs and preferences.
(L)
(c) 3.Figuring out what you want. As I mentioned earlier, kratom strains vary from vendor to vendor so buyer beware - not all strains are created equal. For example, White Sumatra from one vendor can be a super-star with amazing potency, but when you order the very same White Sumatra from another vendor and it's surprisingly weak and different in every aspect/action. Just because they carry the same name, doesn't mean that these strains come from the same plants - or are of the same quality.
(L)
(c) 4.Inquire about any strains that are currently "out of stock". I have found that "out of stock" notice is a good sign and means that the particular strain is quite popular and/or was probably re-ordered in bulk. When I notice some strains with that sign, I will write down their names and the site, and will write a vendor to please notify me when this strain will be available again. Chances are very high, that this is their hot ticket item! :)
5.When you first start out, think small. You can always go big later. Free samples or small quantities of many strains is a better route than being stuck with the strains you aren't fond of. Currently, I have way too much Maeng-Da then I wish I had!
(L)
(c) 6.Don't judge the book by its cover. There are a few smaller sized sites that don't have a huge selection of kratom, but the quality they offer is just incredible. Usually they will speak with pride of the quality of their kratom, so you will notice something along those lines: "We offer highest of quality, most pure kratom on the planet...". These are music to my kratom-loving ears!
(L)
(c) 7.While price is not always an indicator of quality, I did notice that sometimes, lesser-quality kratom goes on sale more often, because the vendor will try to get rid of that stock by any means possible. So I never personally buy discounted items, and I don't recommend you do. A few dollars are not worth it.
(L)
(c) 8.I usually avoid the word "Premium" when buying Kratom. Here's what this word really means: premium strains are usually a mix of several plain leaf kratom strains, therefore it's not really the quality that is "premium" - it's the price that you are expected to pay for it. I have tried, in the past, many premium strains and have found them usually way overpriced and not worth the hassle. I prefer plain leaf kratom to any "premium blend", because I have hands that can mix my individual strains! You too have the power to create these "premium strains" at the comfort of your own home. I will post some ideas for popular mixes - such as mixing Bali and Indonesian strains (mixing slow with fast). You can name them some fancy name and have a laugh about it.
(c) 9.Questions NOT to ask your vendor are any preparation related methods, as kratom is sold as aromatherapy incense only. Nor do you want to ask any medical related questions, since your vendors are not medical professionals. For any such questions, consult forums and discussion boards.

That's all folks. This concludes my kratom-dedicated tune of the day, I hope you enjoyed it and feel free to comment or add below.
Cheers!!! (c)
May your world be kratom-happy today and always!

Hi Kristen and Speciosa,
As usual, great tips. I agree with Speciosa, in the fact that asking questions prior to ordering is very difficult. I never ask BEFORE ordering, but I also have PLENTY of Maeng Da on hand from early experimentation. I now mix it in with my "normal" mix batches so it doesn't go to waste.
AFTER ordering, I find vendors are more welcoming to answer questions. However, they cannot predict your personal experience with their products, but many will guarantee your satisfaction by accepting unused recent orders in original packaging (minus a small sampling) in exchange for the same amount of a different strain to try. The key, as Kristen states, is to make your own blends after testing basic strains.
You NEVER know from day to day, or batch to batch. Now that my body is used to Kratom, I can more easily try samples without negative side effects :) I now have a relative started on it, and have recruited a new member of "finally not depressed" lovers of this medicinal plant! Long live Kratom!
