I have been looking for past topics on this issue for you but the search engine is giving me a hard time today. Look through some of the introduction topics we have a few who have switched with little problems.
(when I find the discussions I am looking for I will be back with the links)

Unfortunately pain clinic are dropping patients that test for kratom. You will have to prepared if and when you want to make the switch. The idea is fill your prescription to have enough to start tapering and then switch to kratom and ideally if kratom works for you, you leave your pain clinic and never have to take a pee test to manage your pain again.
They way they handle pain management patients now is awful. We need more advocacy.

I've hear some bad stories from people who have been tossed off pain control when using Kratom. If you can, see what you can find out about how your clinic tests for opiates. Not all tests show Kratom, I believe they have to be specifically looking for it. So if it is just a general test, you might slip by.
Others here have more experience with this so maybe they can advise you.

Hi there Lisa !!

Wonderful that you found this sweet community!

There’s been many that have made the switch from opiates to Kratom ...there’s many who feel that kratom helps better at managing pain than script pain meds ....but as a caution .. if you wish to continue your treatment at the pain clinic , and they test for Kratom, they most likely will cut ties with you if Kratom is found in your system ...there isn’t a guarantee of this but a high likeliness....

If you know your done with the clinic , and have made the decision to switch to kratom , I’d first talk with your doc ( if trusted and open minded ) ... he / she might be cool with the transition..and possibly allow you to continue the treatment......but most likely not !

It’s a tough spot to be in , and the medical system can be very narrow minded when it comes to natural supplemental herbs for pain ....

Others will chime in soon...

For me personally Lisa , I have had chronic pain for most of my life , spinal degenerative disease .... kratom has been better than any Ned I’ve tried ... and I’ve tried a handful !

I would do lots of research into the switch, use the search bar here and type “getting off pain meds “ or similar .. t he red some threads that has covered some good area ..

One thing to keep in mind is that real opiates have a stronger grip on our receptors and when taking kratom ,it will take some time for the receptors to cool down and adjust to appreciate all kratom has to offer ... the best it can give right off the bat is WD negation, can traumatic you lower WD symptoms and ease the transition off of pain meds ... pretty neat !!!

Stick around some , hope you get better info or additional info to give more help/ clarity!!

Take care Lisa

I am a severe chronic neuropathy patient and take opids under the care of a pain management doctor. I want to get off opids and have a normal life again. I of course give a urine test when I see my doctor and don't know if Kratom will show up in UA. I what to be drug free, but afraid I will get kicked off pain management if he see that I've tired Kratom. Has anyone made the transition from opids with out any problems?
