Thank you for your information, I have been very worried about my Kratom Use before anesthesia and I am feeling much better after reading everyone on this forum, which I have been a member of for about 7 years and my only forum I am on. Did the pain meds after surgery affect your Kratom Tolerance? Hope you are doing well, Golda 55 PS did you mention to the anesthesiologist and surgeon about your Kratom usage ?

Did the pain meds after surgery affect your kratom tolerance..I am so frightened of my upcoming eye surgery anesthesia and my use of kratom, I usually take 5 gram doses about 3 times a day..I probably wont be under too long, Thank you in advance and hope you are doing well after your mastectomy, makes me feel selfish worrying about an eye surgery. Hope you are doing well. Thank you Golda55

Thank your for your information, I need to have eye surgery for a macular hole, I know I cannot do without my morning dose of Kratom, especially with my anxiety about the surgery, I still have to see the specialist before the surgery, I have been putting it off because of my fear of anesthesia, but my eyesight is getting worse, I will have to take my kratom dose before leaving the house, usually about 5 grams, and reading what you advised really has eased my mind, as far as pain meds, i am not sure, but if I do need it will it affect my kratom tolerance. Thank you Golda55 Any other information would be welcomed.

I have had many colonoscopies. They will put you under. You will be conscious but, completely unaware of what is going on. They will talk to you until they know you are under. Then you wake up as if nothing happened. You will not remember anything.
My advice is be open an honest with the anesthesia dr. And let them know you have an extremely high tolerance for pain meds and anti-anxiety meds. Also when the ask you how much you weigh add a few pounds. They go by body weight for meds during procedure.
They don’t knock you out completely because the need to be able to move you around during the procedure.
Please don’t postpone colonoscopy and the worst part is the pre-cleanse. It is horrible to drink the clean out mix. That is way worse than the procedure.
Any questions just ask. I have Crohn’s Disease so I know a lot about colonoscopies.

If anyone wants a blow by blow account of my procedure, I'll write it up. My favorite part was when they were just about to give me my propofol. He put it in and said "see you in a little while."

All I was thinking to myself was, "I'm not very comfortable. I'm not going to fall asleep like this."
Then i smelled something and said to myself "this shit's not going to knock me out."
And that was the last I remembered. LOL.
That stuff scares me because you don't KNOW you're falling asleep - it's not a PROCESS, it's BOOM - nor do you remember ANYTHING while you ARE asleep.

That stuff is FABULOUS. When I had the dental surgery (conscious sedation - probably the same as you philly) I remember feeling the initial effects of the drug, then I was aware of them working in my mouth and I was thinking that they were doing the surgery BEFORE I was under - OH NO!

That was about the time they said "It's all over ...YOU'RE DONE!"

Then I went home and did some serious napping!

Glad things worked out for you Philly.

Thank you for replying, my friend! Keeping some in your car is not a bad idea at all. I will have to consider that!

I think Colonoscopies are actually usually at 50. I'm not even 48 quite yet but my doctor went ahead and recommended me early because of some family history.

You might be thinking of prostate exams around 40. However, most doctors have stopped doing that (thank God) because they really can't feel anymore than about 30% of the prostate by "doing that." It's not comfortable, believe me - both physically and psychologically. Nowadays they are just using the blood PSA test to determine prostate problems - which you would done with an annual physical assuming you have them.

The colonoscopy was pretty painless, but you do need to take a day off from work. You feel a little off for 24 hours. But it's not bad at all. Granted, everyone is different.

Thanks again for touching base! I'll try to stay in touch! :-h

I am happy to report that I finally had my colonoscopy today after rescheduling it twice. I just took my first dose of Kratom for the day about 25 minutes ago and it seems to be working pretty dang well - yea!

My last dose was around 7:30 PM last night.

Honestly, you know what the worst part of this colonoscopy was for me? It wasn't the prep, it wasn't the liquid diet, or the pooping, and definitely not the procedure - it was the period of the morning from when I woke up to when I got the office for the procedure. I felt pretty bad. No water, no drink, no food, and no Kratom. I did not feel well at all and my anxiety was to the moon.

Now, that might sound like I'm some kind of addict but the truth is - I handled it fine. Totally kept myself in check and cool, no complaining, no outward nerves.........inside I was a mess just wanting to GET IT OVER WITH. But i'm pretty sure no one knew.

I'm going to hang my hat on that, knowing that I was able to function in a somewhat stressful environment without Kratom. It helps me feel like i'm not completely reliant on it, but that I like how it helps me. (Gee, kind of like coffee, eh?)

Now that I think about it, I had a networking meeting yesterday morning and when I got 10 minutes from there I grabbed my Kratom container, opened it, and realized i had forgotten to fill it. (I had filled it only in my mind!) Well, that should've made me mad - I had no time to turn around. Instead I just laughed at myself and took it as a challenge. And I got by just fine for 90 minutes without it. I mean, yeah.....I often said to myself "I'm antsy as hell and really WISH I had taken my Kratom" but.....other than that, I was fine.

Sorry this is so long. Thanks to the 2 or 3 of you who will read.

If anyone wants a blow by blow account of my procedure, I'll write it up. My favorite part was when they were just about to give me my propofol. He put it in and said "see you in a little while."

I never took it before a surgery or any procedure.

That being said, I know someone who had a procedure. I think he has a strong tolerance for pain, but instead of local anesthesia, he just took kratom.
