Citric acid is what makes citrus fruits acidic, including grapefruit juice, so that should be all you need to help break down the cell walls of Kratom. There's no law saying you can't later freeze your citric acid treated bowl of Kratom and water, and if doing so I'd use less citric acid. If you want flavoring you can use one of those packets of flavored drink mixes (which generally contain a bit of citric acid). But add that in after you strain what's in the bowl. Then add some gelatin, or whatever combo of things are used in gummy bears, let it firm up, chop it up, and Bob's your uncle!

Probably best kept refrigerated.

Sounds like a fun project! I think Babel-17 has posted some experience adding citrus acid to kratom as a potentiator. That might be a win/win here!

well I made the first test batch yesterday and the good news is the texture was great. The bad news is the taste needs some real work.
But then we are talking Kraton so that was to be expected.

I mixed in 20 grams of my not high quality bargain basement kilo so at least if I failed it would not be a great loss.
I tried to strain with a fine wire mess strainer but it pretty much sent thru the strainer so next time will use a coffee filter to strain.

Any thoughts on what would be good to use as a base?
Grapefruit seems to be popular. I actually mix in milk with my kratom solution not that might not go well as a gummie :-)

Also plan to add some powered citric acid to make it more sour and mask the taste plus as a preservative.

I think batch number too will make advancements in taste since I have the gelatin proportions figured out

Hey goshawk ,

What a fun endeavor , and possibly a tasty beneficial treat !

Consider mixing your leaf in your liquid of choice , and freeze it over night , some do this because as the water freezes , it breaks the cell wall of the leaf , upon thawing out , more alkaloids and be extracted . I don’t know if just making tea is just as good and freezing in unnecessary... but just a thought . Perhaps making two separate batches of gummies , or three even ! Try just tea in one batch, and another one you might consider throwing some leaf in along with the extracted tea ... for a more full alkaloid potential . And the third one.... the tea that’s been frozen with leaf still in the solution ... thawed / strained and added .

No matter what route , super fun project :)

As to how much to add in a 1/2 cup of water ... You might start with more water to add more leaf , then let it simmer and evaporate into 1/2 cups worth .... get more bang for your efforts .

Please keep us posted , happy Gummies’s making :-P

Based on what I just read, I will pour hot water over the kratom, steep then Strain. I won't boil. I guess that you lose some of the alkaloids if you boil it.

So looking at the recipe it has a half a cup of liquid.
My idea is to boil some kratom on the water, then strain the kratom out as I think that will make the gummies more appealing.
One I assume most of the potency will be in the liquid part and I an not loosing much by straining.

So I am also wondering how much kratom to put in the 1/2 a cup of water. like 10, maybe 20 grams, heck maybe even 30 grams?

Too much and they won't be eatable too little and no results. I know I will have to try different versions but this is my first attempt kind of going blind here.

I tried making brownies once but just added kratom to the mix and the extra powder was too much, did not mix well and the result was horrible.

So just curious what others think?

Kratom cookies are AMAZING, but any yummy treats depend on the right kratom...
I’ve had the cookies and, like gummies, I eat them all. Twice. No regrets except I am trying to avoid sugary sweets and carbs...

Oh I did not think about that but if I boil the kratom e.g. make a tea then then it would be ok to strain the mix before making the gummies.

The family is doing well , dealing with big changes in the family and life but even without a plan, but every body is hanging tight!

That’s sounds pretty amazing, I wonder if something the kratom in apple cider vinegar and then straining , using the liquid would do the job ..??or just throwing the powder right in the mix .... ? Could be a new million dollar idea !! Please let us know if you make a batch and how it turns out :)

How have you been goshawk? Hope all is well with you and your family (L)
