R7 wrote: Hello everyone, I have been into herbs since I was a teen, now a middle aged guy who still loves his herbs, but one thing that has bothered me over the years is that I have been wanting to experiment with herbal extracts. Either lack of money, not wanting to waste my herbals or just not quite certain of how I would get them extracted in full detail.
Well ok here goes, I am looking to make my own herbal extracts with alcohol in glass jars.
One of the main questions I have at the moment is how can I dry my herbs that have been soaking in the alcohol? I did not want to waste it, so I would like to know how I can dry it out safely.
I have heard about some people using an oven or toaster but, with flammable alcohol I would say that would be too dangerous to do that. The other idea I had was to use a food dehydrator machine but if you have seen images of those you would see that they have racks with holes in them. If I tried putting the wet herbs in that it would fly all over the place when turned on.. is there any other ways of drying my herbs fast? Air drying is too slow and could bring air born contaminants or mold so I want to avoid that..
This is a main issue that is holding me back from creating my own herbal extracts. If anyone can help or make any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
What are you planning on doing with the already extracted alcohol herbs?
