@laurie

I would not do that if I were you but I'm scared of pharmaceuticals to begin with. Also, wellbutrin is known to increase your risk of seizures. I've read reports of "kratom" being blamed for seizures though it is unknown whether it was tainted "kratom" or perhaps the person was on other prescribed medications.
Here is a link to the report www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20411370 .

This is not directly related to the unfortunate topic at hand, but I am wondering if you mix your antidepressant with kratom? I was prescribed Wellbutrin, but kratom has been so effective, I hesitate to mix a prescribed pharmaceutical with it. I am leaning toward No, since less is more with the plant. Any expanse on your experience would be appreciated (no need to reveal exact medication or anything personal, just your thoughts/experiences about mixing the two). Thank you!

Theblaze.com did have an article about kratom and how the government will regulate anything. It talks about how kratom has helped millions of Americans with chronic pain, and for troops with ptsd, says it's a revolutionary medicine for veterans suffering from pain, and ptsd. It also talks about how it's natural remedy and has been used in other countries for hundreds of years, it's actually thousands though. I'm glad to see at least one media outlet praising the kratom leaf. The Blaze always speaks the truth.

There have been 2 favorable publications, recently? I haven't seen that update in the AKA facebook webpage. I'll have to take a look. Usually I'm notified of any new posts that are on the page. I better check my settings.

Paul, that was a good article, as usual. Keep up the good work, you're making a difference!

BarleyJonathan: I wrote a blog about the suicide in Georgia and published it in the blog section of this Web site. You can find it at www.ilovekratom.com/kratom-news-blog/64-kratom-acc...sing-another-suicide

The young man's mother's description of how kratom was so addictive, her son couldn't take it fast enough to stay ahead of the withdrawals is simply bizarre. But, she's obviously never had it, so she might believe that. If that is accurate, he must have either got hold of some spiked stuff or had some serious mental issues.

Your last sentence (above) pretty well nails it. We will need to wait 5-9 more weeks to hear what the medical examiner has to say, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. By then, all the public will remember is the bad impression this news article left in their mind.

I believe kratom's defenders will make mincemeat of any proposal to pass a law based on this case. The AKA and the BLD both have good lobbyists and PR team working to counteract kneejerk legislation based on hearsay. Just in the last 2 days, we got favorable articles placed in The Blaze and Breitbart's newletters. See them over at the American Kratom Association's FB page.

It makes me want to puke watching these news report videos.. It's absolutely ignorant these people having no idea what kratom is, talking about it like they've researched it for years.. What a bunch of morons in the media, the media in general makes me want to vomit.

Well, this post caused some peculiar debates :-?

I don't believe there's anything about his toxicology report being published, and their most likely will not be so that the media (probably paid off by BigPharma) can shove this in their "win" folder.

I believe Kratom may have contributed to some placebo on his part. You can read all the speculation about it being addicting and affecting the same receptors as opiates in the brain in the same way and start to believe it yourself. Maybe this, combined with some other drugs as well, led to it? Kratom itself is not addicting to the point that you would take your life SOLELY because of that, clearly other things had to be going on.

I'd also like to point out how basic their evidence was on all those news reports. She reads part of a suicide note that he claims drugs ruined his life, never saying what drugs. Also they say they found empty bags of Kratom in his apartment, which you would find in anyone's apartment who's using Kratom. They never talked about anything else they found. It's basically the media trying to push out minimal evidence to point in one direction, and unfortunately a lot of people will just listen because they don't care to know any different.

How can a plant that makes you relax and happy cause a suicide? Was he on some other stuff too?
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food."

A bit of irony? "Pretty retarded".... "I actually can't understand the ignorance of some people." Sorry I'm usually not a political correctness Nazi but this word is a little harsh.

Only read about this very recently - luvkratom.com/kratom-suicide/

Pretty retarded, the woman's son was on a heap of anti D's. I actually can't understand the ignorance of some people.
