I got the "trots" yesterday when I didn't take any kratom because I wanted to test chuchuhuasi as a pain killer for my wife. I took 2gm in grapefruit juice at 9am. Then worked at cleaning carpets until 11am. I could tell there was some pain reduction but no where near what kratom gives me. I took another 2gm and finished the cleaning by 12:30pm. I then had a salad from Zaxby's. My back was in a lot of pain so at 1:30pm I took 3.2gm of red kx in grapefruit juice. About 30 minutes after that I started having the trots until about 9pm. I was cleaned out enough for a colonoscopy by that time.:S
I don't know what caused this. The not taking kratom all morning, the first time taking chuchuhuasi, a bad salad from Zaxby's, or maybe to high a dose of the Red Kx? (Which did take away the back pain):-bd
As a side note the chuchuhuasi smelled and tasted like fresh cut sawdust. Does that sound normal for this herb?
My Grandkids say I’m a cuckoo head. ;)

Cici,

You’re right. Not enough studies have been done - YET.

Google Dr Mercola to see SOME of his research findings.

I agree with you that it’s a natural product of choice. But we all know “natural” isn’t always better.

The only symptoms I have had is cravings for unhealthy foods, depression and the trots. No restless legs or anything. But. I stepped down to stem n vein before going without kratom altogether and I can tell it relieved some symptoms. Or rather skipped a few symptoms of discontinued kratom use.

I tried a synthetic antidepressant and after one week, my health had gone haywire and the dr said to ditch the medication. I still had symptoms of withdrawal from THAT drug well over 6 weeks AFTER ingestion.

That spoke VOLUMES to me about which is the better choice.

The other symptoms I get when I stop are restlessness legs and anxiety. But it’s hard to say that it’s from Kratom because I had that stuff before I started taking it. It’s almost like when I don’t take Kratom I realize all the ways that it’s helping me. But I can’t help but worry if it’s safe for long time use. Is it safe to use for 5 + years? This is why I’m so happy that studies are finally being done on it.
The reason I choose to take it now is because I was talking prescription meds for anxiety and pain, but now I’m not. It just feels better to be able to take control over your own health in a natural way.

I also get diarrhea if I don’t use kratom for 24 hrs.

Partly because I have adopted magnesium supplementing and forgot to cut back on it
:-O Oops

I noticed other minor discomforts and returned to kratom use. I found cravings for unhealthy substances (SUGAR) returned with discontinuation of kratom. I have decided I’d rather ingest plant material than sugar!

I think everyone is different with the depth of psychological addiction in addition to minor discomfort (nothing to miss work over!).

Have you noticed any other symptoms?

Thanks for throwing this question out on your introductory post!

Hello everyone. I’ve read some stuff on different forums about Kratom withdrawals and I don’t know if I can believe what I read on Reddit so I figured I’d ask you guys. Has anyone gone through withdrawals when quitting Kratom and if so, what was it like?
I’ve taken Kratom for about 7 months now and it’s really helping with pain, anxiety and overall mood. I took a one week break from Kratom after the first 3 months and I had diarrhea that didn’t really go away till I took Kratom again.
I take one teaspoon of Kratom 2 times a day (sometimes 3 times a day if my back pain really acts up). I’ve never upped my dosage in the 7 months I’ve taken it, but I’m worried that I am taking to much.
Any honest reply with your experience on the topic would be great.
Oh yeah, I notice that if I go more then 12 hours without a dose my stools get a little lose. Lol, sorry if this is totally TMI! It just seems like Kratom is slowing down my digestion.
Does anyone else get the trots if you miss a Kratom does?
