The best way to assure your post is correct, use the REPLY (not quick reply, which is not quick in my opinion) and use PREVIEW before posting. ALSO, for long winded replies, the log-in times out. To avoid losing all of that typing, copy it FIRST and THEN tap 'submit'. That way you have a copy to paste and submit. Hope this helps!

Probably because a lot of spammers do that intentionally so they could circumvent manual Mods. They will post something that looks decent then edit it to put in a PTC or affiliate link. Sometimes they use programs and automated bots to "instruct" these actions. Spammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, we deal with it all the time on our Blog. If I didn't log in every day - the comments section would be inflated with all kinds of garbage. Of course, I put in some scripts to halt most of them, but the spammers still come around. Mostly foreign.

I have come to the conclusion it is the length of the post, use of a lot of capitals, short sentences, exclamation marks, and links. A combination off these usually sets off the spam alerts.

Also if you try to edit immediately after posting it often sets off the spam alert. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be consistent.

Very frustrating for me as I rely on the edit function to correct my typos and fix formatting.

I wonder if its pinging certain generic user names along with the "suspected" speech/words.

I think the spam control is too sensitive.

Sometimes on the first time I try to edit a post it says that I am trying to spam. Other times the spam kicks in on the second edit.

Can this be fixed so that a member can at least edit their own posts?
