Hey guys I am looking for opinions/information from this group on those who have had experience with the Butrans patch for controlling pain. I don't want to create any drama. Are these 2 medications the same and are they considered bad by those who have used them. I know a lot of ILK members have turned to Kratom to get away from Subs. Reason why I bring this up.....
I have been experiencing extreme abdominal pain and have had my fisrt appointment with Pain Management. They are considering using Butrans patch as part of my treatment. I am nerveous due to the negative things I have heard about people coming off of Subs.
Please tell me the difference and express a compasionate opinion.

I feel scared just bringing this up and was just gonna not share on this Forum but, I trust you guys and hope to weather this storm.

What a GREAT QUESTION for this forum, Jazzfan1!

I hope you get lots of helpful input. I am following along for the potential education on that medication.

Glad you shared.

What have you found online? Have you searched for USER REVIEWS of that med?

Managing pain is important to having quality of life. I want to let you know I am not against the use of pain medication to improve quality of life. I am against doctors forcing tapers and taking away medication that worked.
Being pro kratom does not mean anti prescription pain meds.
Kratom does not manage all types of pain.

You need options.

I too am curious about the patch.

Have you searched maybe for a pain management support group to find Bultran patch users?

I’m also open minded about ALL types of pain and ALL types of relief. And the various levels of relief (perception also).

I’m not AGAINST prescription meds. I am an advocate for freedom from the wreckage of ADDICTION. Substance is not the issue. Human behavior is where I’m trying to help people CHANGE if they are ready.

I am very interested in herbal supplements AND their prescription counterparts. Learning EVERY DAY while helping someone FEEL BETTER TODAY is my interest.

Not judging people. Although I’ve been guilty of it (!!), I make a point to REVERSE THAT immediately because I have only been in my own shoes.

The more education shared here, the merrier.

Thanks Laurie & Nan70. You guys are great. I feel the same way about finding pain relief when we are really hurting. I had a great family practice dr. for 20 years and he had to refer me to a Pain Management Dr. because of the Laws governing the Opiod Crisis. I am upset that people such as myself who have legitimate Chronic painfull conditions(Crohn's Disease,Kidney Disease) have to be treated as drug seekers.
I have serious pain issues as I know many of the ILK members do as well. Several years ago 2009-2012 I having issues with my Crohn's and I was prescribed MS Contin 30mg twice a day. I always used it responsibly and after I went into remission I volunteered to stage down off of it. Of Course my body had become dependent on the Opiod But, I toughed thru it and was fine.
I am currently having the same if not higher levels of pain. The pain I feel in my abdominal region is deep,Intense,Cruel, and it takes my breath away. I have gone to the ER and stayed in the Hospital for 4 days "No food or water" until by intestinal blockage opened up again.I have been missing a lot of work lately. I have an understanding employer and have FMLA paperwork to protect my job and "Health Insurance" but, I don't get paid for time missed.
Thanks for letting me get all that out....

I hope attitudes change toward pain medications for those who need them. But, I feel like for now it is hopeless. I have a better chance of getting a Medicinal Marijuana Card than I do of getting a prescription for Hydrocodone... I think medical marijuana is great but, currently the laws don't support me where I live and I can't risk losing my health insurance...

I will keep you guys posted. I am trying the Butrans patch 10mcg. I guess we will see how well it works.
