I went to urgent care Thursday night with chest pain and shortness of breath. I was taken 1000 yards by ambulance to the ER. My EKG was abnormal. They admitted me. I failed my medicine induced stress test yesterday so they are going to do an angiogram Monday.
I'm very conflicted. I started using Kratom June of 2018 for chronic pain that was off the charts. Also for depression and anxiety.
Since I got here I've only taken two doses. I'm afraid to tell the staff because I think they will be ignorant and label my a "drug seeker"!
I took my regular dose Thursday night. Friday I went all day and took about 5g's at 6pm. I was going to try to take none until after the procedure. However, I woke up very sad and couldn't stop crying. At 12pm I gave up and took 5g's within 45 mins I was fine, no more tears or pains. I did tell the hospitalist and cardiologist that I take a lot of Herbs for pain. I asked if they would check my blood for clotting ability before the procedure and they said yes. I am a survivor of 3 rare diseases, Cushing's, Adrenal Insufficiency & hypopituitarism. And Fibromyalgia and RA. I'm also a thyroid cancer survivor.

I'm not seeking medical advice. However, I'd love to know what you would do, or have done in a similar situation???

Tell them everything you take. Even if they do mis-judge, who cares? Maybe bring a sheet of paper that explains what it is and what's in it that helps improve lives. Don't worry what they think of you!

THIS. So what if they wrongfully think you're a drug seeker. You can dispel that by telling them you don't want any or just cooperating normally. Drug seekers ask for more when they give you a script of 20 Tramadol after pulling a muscle. Which isnt enough anyways for a real injury and someone with any type of tolerance.

I do understand your point of view and fears with this but telling them everything is so essential. It could lead to them discovering that you had some type of bad reaction or something very uncommon.

You have to tell the Doc!! They will likely misjudge you and look at you initially as a 'druggie'. Change their mind. Educate them. Show them what it really is. Maybe part of the reason you are there is to change someones life with information about Kratom? Maybe they will go home and look into it themselves and decide to try it? The universe is crazy like that. Keep us updated! Whatever you choose, you really do need to tell them. -hugs- ^_^
