This was a generally well-reported article. They told both sides, as good reporters are supposed to do.

I wish the author had called Gottlieb out on some of his claims, such as that "kratom is inherently addictive." He should know the difference between "becoming habituated" to a substance because it fills a need and you like it, such as a few daily cups of coffee -- and true addiction, where one tends to need larger doses to get the same relief or pleasure and the habit starts interfering with your life and relationships.

Scott Gottlieb may know the difference, but he's got an agenda to demonize kratom, not to be fair or honest about it. He knows how much it is hurting Pharma's profits and, I believe, he knows there's money in it for him to do what Pharma wants: Get kratom off the market, so they can sell more Rx drugs.

So, it's our job to make sure he doesn't achieve his goal. There's a lot of people who have had their lives saved ... or at least greatly improved -- and they shouldn't have to go back to opioids, suicide, or living in pain. That's what I would have liked to have seen come across in this article, but as Laurie said, it's a step forward and better than most of the garbage written about kratom. so it's progress.

I read this the other day and for Webmd was pretty surprised they didnt slam kratom.
But the FDA guy makes it so obv. whose pocket he is in.
Good to know that money still buys people in powerful position in Federally agencies.
When the Feds arrest the Mafia it's called bribery or pay to play.
For them its contributions and money for that agency from powerful lobbyists in big pharma and other major industries.

Gottleib did mention it fills an unmet need for pain relief.

THAT’S HUGE. It’s a buried comment in there.

The lies about hallucinations and psychosis are getting fewer and fewer...slowly...

Thx for posting this article, its a relief to hear another account of just how much help this leaf can provide

Look forward to reading more honest and accurate accounts of benefits achieved

As far as dependence..
I do depend on the relief it provides, I’m happy to say it far surpasses any pharmaceuticals I’ve been prescribed to treat my ailments . ... its not a crime to enjoy the relief one experiences ..
It’s the best tool in the tool box for me

Thank you Laurie and webmd!!

It fills a need for sure, safely and effectively

Keep herbs free and keep them accessible to those that “choose” to use them for crying out loud :)
