Hi IndigoGirl, welcome to this fine community of Kratom loving folks! Love the name, and the band by the way :-bd I've been fortunate enough to see Emily & Amy a dozen times over the years; the only artists I've seen live more times are Neil Young (77), Rush (37), Crosby Stills & Nash (28), Tom Petty (15) and Lucinda Williams (14). I was introduced to the Indigo Girls when they opened for Neil Young on his solo acoustic tour of sheds in June of 1989. I had previously heard "Closer To Fine" a few times and thought it was good, but seeing them play most of their first major label release 'Indigo Girls' that night made me an instant fan! "Secure Yourself" and "Tried To Be True" stood out that night in Atlantic City, as well as 2 nights later in Holmdel, NJ. I last saw them in October of 2011 at Monmouth University. Great memories! Sorry I've gotten off topic

I'm in the same boat as you are, trying to get off of opiates that I have to take for Central Post Stroke Pain Syndrome (CPSP). I am also a recovering addict with 3 years sobriety under my belt, which complicates my situation tremendously. The best advice I could offer is to try a few different strains to see what works best for you. Red Vein strains tend to be the best for pain relief and the most sedating, Whites are more energetic and Greens kind of in between. That's just my experience, your mileage may vary. As for dose, if you are fighting off withdrawal I'd use about 5 grams to start, and adjust from there. Preferably you want to use the least amount of Kratom as possible, and keep in mind that oftentimes less is more when it comes to this fine herbal remedy. I'm sure many others with more experience than me will jump in and offer advice. I hope this helps. I wish you much luck in your journey away from opiates.
WHEN MANY OFFER GREAT ADVICE IN A TIMELY FASHION IT MAKES FOR A GREAT COMMUNITY. WHEN IT BECOMES ABOUT A FEW WHO LIKE TO HEAR THEMSELVES TALK AND DROWN OUT EVERYONE ELSE IT'S LIKE A RADIO SHOW: ILK PRESENTS THE "MAD MAX NEVER SHUTS UP SHOW" SPONSORED BY VENDORS HERE WHO ALSO HAPPEN TO OWN THE FORUM

Hello and welcome! I'm a newbie also! Someone from a different kind of forum ( ;) ) had told me about Kratom. He put it to me like this... If you want the sedating effects you once got from opiates you take a higher dose 5-8 grams, and for the warm, energy take 2-4 grams. You must play around with the dosages, start at the lower end. I've tried Maeng Da from 3 different vendors and to me, one stood out, but all were great in their own way☺ plus, try to get a variety, like one of each color, and different kind like, Malay, info, Borneo...etc.
Mixing strains is wonderful! Mix a red and a white or green for a balance of energy and pain relief.
This tree has saved my life! I didn't have the option for rehab, detox, or treatment, and withdrawal is terrible! I went through it over and over and still couldn't stop. Until 3 months ago!☺

Hello everyone, I am also new to this forum. Indigogirl, Kratom is awesome and hopefully can help you. I dabble with use sometimes, but stumbled upon it looking how to get off opiates. My girlfriend had a botched surgery and some bad doctors that just kept feeding her and feeding her stuff they shouldnt. Our life was hell for about 7 months until i found kratom. Long story short, kratom has helped her get off opiates and get her life back.
